Adolescent girls and young women (15-24) continue to be disproportionately affected by #HIV & #AIDS related illnesses - this continues to be the leading cause of death amongst women of a reproductive age globally. This is a priority area for @GlobalFund
Providing health & social services to mitigate the impact of a disease cannot be dissociated from social issues like gender equality that define how service provision is designed, which impacts our ability to access services & to have bodily autonomy.

Uganda has been selected among the initial beneficiaries of the International Partnerships for Microbicides as they roll out the HIV-preventing vaginal ring in Africa.
The ring contains Dapivirine, an ARV drug. It is inserted in the vagina and left there for 28 days.
