Cyber threats continue to evolve, and staying safe online requires more than waiting for warnings after something goes wrong. It means taking the initiative to understand the risks, seek reliable information and learn how to protect yourself in an increasingly connected world.
Learn to recognise phishing attempts, secure your accounts, protect your personal information and verify suspicious messages before acting on them.
But don't stop with yourself.
Share what you learn with your family, friends, colleagues and community. Help someone recognise a scam, understand their privacy settings or secure an account they may not know is vulnerable.
Digital safety should not be knowledge reserved for a few. The more people understand the risks and know how to respond, the safer our online communities become.
This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, take the initiative to learn. Put that knowledge into practice. And help someone else stay safe online.

REMARKS | 16th Communications Consumer Parliament
@UCC_Official Director of Economic Regulation, Content and Consumer Affairs, Julianne R. Mweheire (@JulesMweheire), highlighted the importance of collective action in building a safer digital future.
While 69.7% of children surveyed reported knowing how to use the internet, only 23.6% of parents were aware that their children used it. The survey also found that 52.9% of children had experienced cyberbullying, while 24.1% had never disclosed the challenges they faced online.
These findings underscore the need for stronger collaboration among parents, schools, communities, service providers and other stakeholders to promote digital awareness and strengthen child online protection.
