It seems awful to bring a negative note to a simply wonderful evening, but the failure to mention the event or the result on the @BBCNews last evening was typical of the closed minds which seem to dominate the News editing..very sad theguardian.com/music/2026/n…

Why is Donald Trump trying to kneecap Ukraine right now and force them to accept a terrible deal? Because Russia is offering business deals to Trump’s crowd, and Trump knows a corrupt peace deal will be harder to do if Democrats are in charge of Congress.

In 1830 HMS PRIMROSE captured Spanish Slaver Velos Passagera rescuing 555 Africans destined for slavery. PRIMROSE was part of the Royal Navy's West Africa Sqn tasked with anti-slavery duties. Between 1808-60 the RN intercepted 1,600 slave ships, freeing over 150,000 Africans

Patrick Stewart was, like many of the greatest British artists of the 20th Century, a working class boy who became a world-class artist thanks to a public arts education made possible by Post War social democracy. He never forgot it.

I’ve reached an age when some people offer me their seat on the tube - and I no longer feel any offence to my dignity. I just say yes gratefully. Except I’ve noticed they have one thing in common - they are almost always people of colour. True Brits.

Love these photos of @ShekuKM from the launch of @UK_Music's 'Our BBC: Our Music' campaign in Parliament last week. A joy to hear him performing Bach and Bob Marley for the assembled crowd.

Olivia Colman’s reaction is almost as entertaining as the honeymoon story itself. Lady Anne Glenconner has lived a life full of experiences that sound unbelievable to people hearing them for the first time. The beauty of a story like this is the contrast: she can describe something extraordinary with complete composure, while everyone around her is struggling to process what they’ve just heard. That’s what makes The Graham Norton Show such a great setting for these moments. You get the story, the unexpected details, and then the priceless reactions from people who genuinely weren’t prepared for any of it. Olivia Colman is especially good at letting her face do the talking. She doesn’t need a clever line when her expression says everything. Some people tell stories to entertain you. Others leave you wondering how they managed to live through them with a straight face. Source:
People don't always avoid the truth by pretending nothing happened. Sometimes, they focus on a smaller problem so they don't have to face the bigger one. When Daniel Wormald's home is ransacked in Better Call Saul, he fixates on his stolen baseball cards while the more serious danger surrounding his hidden drug money goes unaddressed. People do something similar in real life. A failing business owner can spend weeks blaming the market instead of questioning their decisions. A couple can argue over chores because admitting that trust has disappeared is much harder. The small problem gives you something to fight. The bigger problem forces you to question yourself. And sometimes, that's the conversation people spend years avoiding.

Royal Mail should be back in public hands. After years of missed delivery targets, Royal Mail has proven it can’t be run effectively by the private sector. That’s why I’ve called on the Government to renationalise it. If we fail to act, we risk losing Royal Mail for good.

Sorry but this is an exaggeration. Huw came to the Rhondda to support my campaign and I won. Admittedly it was the 2017 election
Hugh Grant Went Door-to-Door to Stop Boris Johnson From Becoming Prime Minister, and Every Single Candidate He Supported Lost Jimmy Fallon: “Is it true you went door-to-door telling people not to vote for Boris Johnson?” Hugh Grant: “I did.” Grant revealed he campaigned for eight different candidates, but voters who promised to support them never followed through. Hugh Grant: “Every single one of my candidates lost. 100% record of failure.” But the funniest part? Some children didn’t even recognize him from Love Actually. They burst into tears because they thought he was the villain from Paddington 2. Imagine Hugh Grant knocking on your door to change your vote, only for his entire political team to lose.

So the First Lady’s rep is spreading Russian disinformation. Once upon a time, this would’ve been a major scandal.
Exclusive Senior Adviser to First Lady Melania Trump Marc Beckman claims Russian kids are being kidnapped too #BothSides
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
A UN commission found Russia's deportation of Ukrainian children is a crime against humanity; ICC issued warrants for Putin over it. No evidence supports claims of Ukraine systematically kidnapping Russian children. news.un.org/en/story/2026/… icc-cpi.int/defendant/vlad… ohchr.org/en/press-relea…
