I didn’t start FlagUp with a big master plan. It began with one simple idea: make it easier to collect and manage customer feedback. Then, while building it, I kept running into the same question: What if the product could do more than just collect what customers say? That question changed the direction of the project. I started working on a conversational assistant that can learn from a website, use connected APIs, and answer customer questions directly inside the same widget. What started as a feedback tool slowly became something much broader: customer support, feedback, and product insights in one place. There’s still a lot I want to improve, but looking back, the product today is very different from the one I first started building. That’s probably my favorite part of building in public, the idea keeps evolving as you build it.

No matter how solid your validation is, there’s always that one user testing the limits. Like, how on earth would someone enter a 100 character username?

First paying customer is great. Opening your analytics and seeing real time visitors on your site, that’s just as great.
