What a magnificent day. Why are we reflecting, because what God produced for one day can be every day life in the black community if we just atone, reconcile, our differences and except the responsibility that’s on our shoulders. — @minishmael #HDOA #ATL #NOISundays

8 Days for 8 Steps of Atonement" Day Eight, Step Eight: Perfect Union with God. "In the Qur'an, it reads, 'Oh soul that is at rest, well pleased with thy Lord and well pleasing (89:27-28).' Oh, brothers, brothers, brothers, you don’t know what it's like to be free. Freedom can’t come from White folks. Freedom can’t come from staying here and petitioning this great government. We’re here to make a statement to the great government, but not to beg them. Freedom cannot come from no one but the God who can liberate the soul from the burden of sin." "Today, October 16, the Holy Day of Atonement, is a Day of Absence. We invite you to join us in abstaining from work, school, shopping, sport, play and entertainment. Let us take this day as a day of fasting, prayer, service and atoning with the people in our lives. This day was declared a ""Holy Day of Atonement and Reconciliation"" on October 16, 1995, by 80 religious leaders, chief among them being the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, National Representative of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. ""We achieved something that set a standard on that day. It fulfilled an ideal and showed the value of the idea behind that day, a day never seen before or since religious leaders gathered in Rankin Chapel at Howard University to anoint a Holy Day. Not a holiday, but a Holy Day where we would make it a Day of Absence from work and school, a Day of Absence from sport and play, a Day of Prayer and Fasting and petitioning the Creator to hear our pain,"" the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan said in a Final Call newspaper article published in commemoration of the 25th anniversary." Let us not allow this historic day to be erased from Black history, nor the man who called it forth, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. Let us carry on the legacy of the Holy Day of Atonement by observing in the Day of Absence. #Farrakhan #HDOA26 #MillionManMarch #ElijahMuhammad #BlackHistory

Long Live the Spirit of the Million Man March! "On October 16th in Washington, D.C., and throughout the nation, we saw a glimpse of the heavenly life. Black men stood for 12, 14, and 16 hours. Many never felt tiredness until the day was ended and they were on their way back to their respective homes. The spirit of that day buoyed them. Why were there so many tears shed, not only on the mall, but by many who were watching by television or satellite? What touched the hearts, minds and souls of the men who were present?" "8 Days for 8 Steps of Atonement" Day Seven, Step Seven: Reconciliation and Restoration. "To restore, to reconcile means to become friendly, peaceable again, to put hostile persons into a state of agreement or harmony, to make compatible or to compose or settle what it was that made for division. It means to resolve differences. It can mean to establish or re-establish a close relationship between previously hostile persons."
