deeply, deeply proud of this. and thank you to the folks we have embedded in news orgs all over the country tonight.
Proud that @Cloudflare through the #AthenianProject embedded security engineers with the teams at critical U.S. news organizations to ensure they could report tonight’s election results without fear of disruption by cyber attack. cloudflare.com/athenian/

If I died while raising money for a charity to honor my late grandfather, I'd hope any news coverage would include a link to the fundraiser. It seems like an important part of the story and the legacy I'd want to leave behind.

the fact that this was written … last year … breaks my brain
There's a new kind of coding I call "vibe coding", where you fully give in to the vibes, embrace exponentials, and forget that the code even exists. It's possible because the LLMs (e.g. Cursor Composer w Sonnet) are getting too good. Also I just talk to Composer with SuperWhisper so I barely even touch the keyboard. I ask for the dumbest things like "decrease the padding on the sidebar by half" because I'm too lazy to find it. I "Accept All" always, I don't read the diffs anymore. When I get error messages I just copy paste them in with no comment, usually that fixes it. The code grows beyond my usual comprehension, I'd have to really read through it for a while. Sometimes the LLMs can't fix a bug so I just work around it or ask for random changes until it goes away. It's not too bad for throwaway weekend projects, but still quite amusing. I'm building a project or webapp, but it's not really coding - I just see stuff, say stuff, run stuff, and copy paste stuff, and it mostly works.

Things will change again and again and again. We’re still very early and agents today are incredible, and yet so frustrating still. Can’t wait to crack things to get that flow state back. Long journey ahead.

In 2020, when I was at Politico, I set up a livestream of my foster kittens on election night (remember the #politicats)?
A friend adopted two of those kittens, Jean and Agnes, and cherished them for 6 years, but he died of cancer last month.
Could you be their new pet parent?

Here’s a fun fact for you.
The Valkyries/Dream Game 6 had more people listening on the @957thegame app than any day all year so far. The second highest was the Warriors/Clippers play in game in April.
Valks had more and by a longshot!
Pretty amazing!

I’ve seen enough.
I don’t have an election call or anything. I’ve just seen enough.

Pro tips for Election Day while you wait for polls to close:
1) Stop touching grass. Don’t go for a walk. Don’t exercise. Go home. Keep scrolling Twitter all day. The next tweet you see down your feed will definitely tell you what’s going to happen before anyone else knows.
2) Trust anonymous accounts. They are the most reliable sources of information today.
3) Overreact to everything. If you see someone say there are long lines at a Republican-heavy precinct, assume it’s a red wave nationally. If you see someone say a precinct is empty in a rural area, confidently declare that Democrats will win a supermajority in the Senate.
4) Anecdotes are to be trusted and extrapolated. Especially if they are from anonymous accounts (see #2), and especially if they are about how busy precincts are (see #3). Bonus points if they have a hammer and sickle or an American flag in their bio.
5) Don’t drink water. The whole “drink eight cups a day” adage is just Big Water™️ industry trying to make money off of you gullible sheep. Drink only coffee and energy drinks. Maybe a Four Loko circa 2010 if you can find one.
6) Look at the clock a lot. Contrary to popular opinion, time does go faster when you are watching the time.

ICYMI, I recently launched a new fan column on the @valkyries for Gazetteer SF. Check out my latest, which features a photo of me looking completely insane after the Valks defeated the Dream to win the WNBA Finals.
