This is the sound of a 27-year-old woman realizing she is going to die. On October 7, Amit fled the Nova festival and hid underneath a vehicle while Hamas terrorists hunted those trying to escape. She called her uncle Shimon, who had helped raise her like a daughter. Then her hiding place was exposed. “Shimon, they shot me in the arm. Shimon, I’m dying.” Knowing these might be her final moments, Amit told her family: “I love you all.” According to Shimon, she then began reciting Shema Yisrael. Amit was murdered that morning, and her body was taken into Gaza. For 224 days, her family hoped she might still be alive — until her body was finally recovered and brought home. Listen to her voice. Don’t stop talking about him. His name deserves to be known. Despite being stabbed and seriously wounded, Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar fought back. With what strength he had left, he managed to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to rush in and overpower the attacker. His courage may have prevented a catastrophe and helped save 174 lives.
