You asked why Nigeria, a major crude producer, still paid so much for petrol?
WHAT HE MET: In May 2023, Nigeria depended heavily on imported refined products. No energy security.
WHAT HE DID: President Tinubu took the difficult but necessary decisions:
- Removed petrol subsidy
- Introduced Naira-for-Crude to boost local refining
- Reformed forex market & strengthened fiscal management
RESULT:
Payed IMF (Covid19) loan, macroeconomic stability improved. In Oct 2025, Nigeria exited the FATF Grey List. FDI jumped from $895M in 2022 to $4.01BN in 2025.
The work continues - turning reforms into jobs, stronger businesses and opportunities for Nigerians.

Dear Senator Adams Oshiomhole: Empowering Youth Leadership Is Investing in the APC’s Future
Dear Senator Adams Oshiomhole,
There was a time in Nigeria’s political history when your name represented the voice and aspirations of ordinary Nigerian workers. As President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, you established yourself as a formidable mobiliser who understood that effective leadership required taking the struggle to the people, building solidarity and challenging limitations. Your experience in organised labour demonstrated that influence is earned through the ability to connect with people, inspire collective action and champion a cause beyond familiar boundaries.
It is against this background that the conversation surrounding Hon. Dayo Israel, the APC National Youth Leader, deserves a broader perspective.
Since assuming office, Dayo has worked to strengthen the party’s relationship with young Nigerians by taking youth engagement beyond conventional election-time mobilisation. Through engagements with youth organisations, students, communities and other groups across the country, he has continued to promote participation in the APC and communicate the policies and vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
His approach recognises an important political reality: a party that seeks the loyalty of young Nigerians must do more than invite them to rallies during elections. It must engage them consistently, give them a sense of belonging and create opportunities for meaningful participation. This is an important dimension of Dayo’s contribution to the party.
Senator, your own history as a labour leader offers a useful lesson. You did not build your influence by confining your activities to a particular workplace or limiting your advocacy to one geographical area. You understood that organised labour derived its strength from nationwide solidarity, broad engagement and the ability to mobilise people around common interests.
That same principle should apply to youth leadership in the APC. A National Youth Leader must be able to engage at the grassroots while maintaining a national outlook. These responsibilities are complementary, not contradictory. Suggesting that Dayo should restrict his activities to his ward or polling unit overlooks the national character of the office he occupies and the wider responsibilities that come with it.
It is also worth acknowledging that political disagreements and changes in administrative arrangements should not erase an individual’s contributions. Despite reported adjustments to campaign council responsibilities, Dayo’s commitment to the party’s mobilisation efforts has remained evident. His value to the APC should ultimately be assessed by his contributions, capacity and willingness to serve.
As the party looks towards the 2027 general elections, it needs a youth leadership structure capable of connecting with a generation whose political expectations are changing. Young Nigerians want to be heard, represented and included in decisions that shape their future. Dayo’s national platform, networks and experience in youth engagement provide the APC with an opportunity to deepen that connection.
Senator, your political journey demonstrates the importance of giving people the space to exercise their capacity and build influence. The next generation of political leaders deserves that same opportunity. Constructive criticism has its place, but it should be accompanied by an appreciation of the work being done and an understanding of the responsibilities attached to leadership.
The more productive conversation, therefore, is not about limiting Dayo Israel’s reach but about how the party can better harness his experience and mobilisation capacity for its collective success.

THE OFFICE OF THE APC NATIONAL YOUTH LEADER MUST NOT BE UNDERMINED: THE IMPERATIVE OF INSTITUTIONAL INDEPENDENCE
By Comr. Amb. Suleiman Abdullahi, FCAI
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is a political institution founded on collective responsibility, party discipline, and shared aspirations. As the party continues to strengthen its structures, it is imperative that the Office of the National Youth Leader be accorded the respect, independence, and authority necessary to fulfil its responsibilities.
The office is not merely ceremonial; it is a strategic platform for youth mobilization, political engagement, and the representation of young party members. Any attempt by individuals, regardless of their influence or status, to undermine its legitimate functions is detrimental to institutional stability and the party's collective interests.
Institutional Independence and Respect
The Office of the National Youth Leader must be allowed to function effectively within the framework of the APC constitution and established party rules. No individual should use personal influence or political connections to frustrate its responsibilities, impose undue interference, or weaken its authority.
Independence, however, does not mean operating outside the party's authority. It means having the necessary freedom to discharge assigned duties responsibly, professionally, and in alignment with the party's objectives.
A functional youth leadership structure strengthens internal democracy, encourages participation, and provides young members with a meaningful voice in the party's affairs. Reducing the office to a figurehead through unnecessary interference would undermine these objectives.
The Party Is Supreme
It must be clearly understood that no individual is bigger than the party, and no personal ambition should take precedence over the collective interest of the APC.
Political positions and influence are temporary, but the party as an institution must endure. Every stakeholder has a responsibility to respect established structures, uphold party discipline, and resolve disagreements through dialogue and recognized channels.
The independence of the National Youth Leader's office must therefore coexist with accountability to the party. The officeholder must respect the party's legitimate decisions, just as other stakeholders must respect the responsibilities attached to the office.
The objective is not to create competing centres of authority but to ensure that every organ functions effectively within its defined mandate.
A Call for Unity and Institutional Protection
The APC must encourage a political culture in which institutions are respected, leadership is accountable, and young people are empowered to contribute meaningfully to the party's growth.
Constructive criticism is legitimate, but deliberate attempts to frustrate the office's legitimate responsibilities for personal or political reasons should not be encouraged. Differences must be resolved through constructive engagement rather than actions that weaken the party's internal cohesion.
Protecting the Office of the National Youth Leader is not about elevating an individual above others; it is about preserving the integrity of an institution established to serve the party.
Conclusion
The Office of the National Youth Leader of the APC must not be undermined by individuals or interest groups. Its dignity, independence, and effectiveness must be protected in accordance with the party's constitution and established rules.
Ultimately, our loyalty must remain with the party, our conduct must strengthen its institutions, and our ambitions must serve its collective interests.

WHEN THE SPACE WE SHARED BECAME TOO SMALL
Once, there was a space for everyone, Where dreams and common purpose aligned. A table built on shared aspirations, With room for every heart and mind. But as the years unfolded, Each grew in different ways, Until the space that once held everyone Struggled to accommodate them all.
What once inspired togetherness Now seems to pull in different directions. How disheartening to see the distance, Where there once was mutual affection. When conversations no longer bring peace, And every difference deepens the divide, The common purpose that brought us together Risks being lost along the ride.
And just when the candle begins to dim, When its flame appears ready to rest, The drums of outside voices sound, And peace is once again put to the test. Those who rekindle fading flames May never bear the cost of what they ignite, Nor remain to mend the broken pieces When the candle burns through the night.
There comes a time when words grow weary, When appeals and tears can do no more. When the weight of endless disagreement Leaves exhaustion at every door. And all that remains is a quiet hope That time may achieve what words could not, Before the beauty of shared beginnings Becomes a memory long forgot.
May the candle never burn the table Around which everyone once stood. May nature send a gentle breeze To preserve what remains of good. May reflection replace reaction, May the swords be gently laid away, For wounds repeatedly reopened May leave scars that never fade.
Must one light grow dim For another to shine bright? Can individual dreams not flourish Without turning differences into a fight? What is gained from separate victories If the common foundation falls? What becomes of great achievements When silence fills once welcoming halls?
And so, I beat a different drum, The beat of reconciliation, The beat of love, understanding, and respect. The beat of individual reflection, To remind us that beyond our differences, There is still so much worth protecting.
Let us remember that not every voice Around us seeks our peace. Some wait to celebrate division, And gather where harmony has ceased. Let us not give them that celebration, Nor allow discord to define our story. For peace is a greater achievement Than any individual glory.
Let us make peace. Let us preserve what time has built, And choose understanding over regret. For when the drums have fallen silent, And every achievement has been set, When all the chips are down, And the story of our journey is told, One question will remain:
“WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR?!”

Real reform is not always comfortable, but reversing difficult decisions for short-term political advantage is no substitute for building a productive, competitive and resilient economy.
