Ambassador H.E. Jayant N. Khobragade arrived in Madrid today. He was received by officials from the Government of Spain and the Indian Embassy. He commenced his tenure by paying homage to the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Plaza Joan Miro, Madrid.
The Ambassador met the spiritual singer, Annie Ahluwalia from India during her visit to Spain. Discussions focused on music, faith and the possibility of carrying our sacred traditions beyond borders. They also explored the similarities between Indian and Spanish cultures and ideas for future collaboration through music. As a part of Dual Year celebrations the Embassy organized a number of concerts. May music continue to serve as a bridge between India and Spain, bringing the people together in the remembrance of the Divine. 🇮🇳 🎶🇪🇸

The Ambassador met Mr Alfredo Cortés, CEO of Go Aragón, who interviewed him on India–Spain relations and opportunities during the Dual Year 2026. Discussions covered trade and investment, the India–EU Free Trade Agreement, and cooperation in infrastructure, defence, artificial intelligence and audiovisual production, including opportunities for businesses in Aragón.The Ambassador also highlighted university exchanges, tourism and cultural connections—from cinema to music and dance—as ways to bring the people of both countries closer. 🇮🇳🤝🇪🇸

The Indian Women’s Association of Madrid joined by the Embassy celebrated Dussehra through music, dance and cultural activities. The Ambassador talked about the lessons we can learn from Dussehra which symbolises victory of good over evil. From Ganesh Stuti to Bollywood dances, performers across generations celebrated India’s cultural diversity. A colourful fashion show and a joyful Garba finale brought everyone together, strengthening cultural bonds and friendship between India and Spain. 🇮🇳✨🇪🇸

The Embassy of India, in collaboration with INTEC Foundation (European Foundation for Innovation and Technology), Córdoba, Spain, organised B2B meetings for agribusiness companies, with 21 companies, including 6 from India, participating.
In his welcome remarks, the Ambassador highlighted India’s policy focus on integrating AI with agriculture, named initiatives such as Bharat Vistaar, and spoke about the potential of the India–EU FTA to boost India–Spain agri-food trade. INTEC President Mr. Juan Francisco Delgado Morales underlined India’s growing AI talent pool and its vast potential to drive innovation and business collaboration in the agri-food sector.
La Embajada de la India, en colaboración con la Fundación INTEC (Fundación Europea para la Innovación y la Tecnología), con sede en Córdoba, organizó encuentros B2B para empresas del sector agroalimentario, con la participación de 21 empresas, incluidas 6 de la India.
En sus palabras de bienvenida, el Embajador destacó el compromiso de la India con la integración de la inteligencia artificial (IA) en la agricultura y el potencial del Acuerdo de Libre Comercio entre la India y la UE para impulsar el comercio agroalimentario entre la India y España. El Presidente de INTEC, D. Juan Francisco Delgado Morales, subrayó el creciente talento de la India en IA y su enorme potencial para impulsar la innovación y la colaboración empresarial en el sector agroalimentario.

The Ambassador accompanied by the Embassy Officers attended a Diwali dinner hosted by the Sikh Federation of Spain, bringing together Presidents and of Gurudwaras and Representatives of the Punjabi Community from across Spain. Discussions focused on positive contribution of and the image created by the Indian Diaspora, promoting community welfare and exploring opportunities for collaboration with the Embassy for cultural, social and sports activities. The occasion reflected upon importance of Sikh principles of Sarbat da Bhala—the welfare of all—and Seva, selfless service to humanity in today's world. 🇮🇳🪯🇪🇸
The Ambassador graced the 50th anniversary celebrations of ISKCON Spain as Chief Guest at the Complutense University of Madrid. In his address, he reflected on the timeless wisdom of Lord Krishna and the profound teachings of the Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita, highlighting the universal values of dharma, righteousness and devotion. The event brought together scholars and spiritual leaders for insightful discussions on Hinduism, Krishna consciousness and Ayurveda. The Ambassador delivered a lecture at the seminar on Investment Opportunities in Infrastructure in India, held at Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX). He highlighted India’s vast investment opportunities and the enabling factors driving its growth, including in light of the upcoming India–EU Free Trade Agreement. He also shared the experience of Spanish companies operating in India and their confidence and trust in India’s economic ecosysten. UAX Rector Mr. Juan Romo outlined India’s strategic position in the global economy and its growing significance as a destination for investment and future growth. The seminar explored opportunities for Spanish companies to participate in India’s infrastructure development, further strengthening economic cooperation between India and Spain. 🇮🇳🇪🇸
El Embajador impartió una conferencia en el seminario Oportunidades de inversión en infraestructuras en la India, celebrado en la Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX). Destacó las amplias oportunidades que ofrece la India y explicó los factores que impulsan su crecimiento, ante la perspectiva del próximo Acuerdo de Libre Comercio entre la India y la Unión Europea. También compartió la experiencia de empresas españolas que operan en la India y su confianza en el ecosistema económico de la India. El Rector de la UAX, D. Juan Romo, destacó la posición estratégica de la India en la economía mundial y su creciente importancia como destino de inversión y motor del crecimiento futuro. El seminario exploró las oportunidades para que las empresas españolas participen en el desarrollo de las infraestructuras de la India, contribuyendo así a fortalecer la cooperación económica entre la India y España.
