Trump er så fornærma for at han ikkje fekk Nobels fredspris. Han er den einaste eg veit om som tiggar om å få han og blir forbanna når han ikkje får han. I ein tale i Syracuse, New York i går påsto han at den blir utdelt av «a group of radicals».

Many of you have been tracking the Irkutsk lab situation over the last few days.
I've been gathering facts and trying to understand what is happening before weighing in.
Now that I have, I have to say — I'm concerned

An anti-plague institute lab worker’s death has triggered extraordinary precautions around Irkutsk: several hospitals reportedly imposed three-week quarantines, but officials say no microbes linked to her work were found in her body. meduza.io/en/feature/2026/10…

#UnitedStates: The case of Christa Pike lays bare multiple reasons why the death penalty should be abolished. The prolonged suffering – physical and mental – arising from multiple failed execution attempts is abhorrent, and cruel. And there are key fair trial questions still unresolved.
UN Human Rights Chief @volker_turk calls on the state authorities not to pursue any further attempt to execute Pike.
We are also troubled by the increase in the number of executions in the United States.
The death penalty has no place in any society.

With great sadness, we received information about the passing of Auschwitz Survivor Julia Wallach, who died at the age of 101.
Julia Wallach, née Kac, was born on 14 June 1925 in Paris as the only daughter of Polish Jewish immigrants. During the German occupation of France in July 1942, her mother Marie was arrested in the Vel’ d’Hiv roundup. Julia never saw her again.
On 24 April 1943, Julia and her father Joseph were arrested after being denounced. They were imprisoned in Drancy. On 23 June 1943, they were deported to Auschwitz in transport no. 55. Julia was 18 years old. In the camp, she was registered as prisoner no. 46645.
Her father did not survive. Julia owed her survival in part to one of her cousins, whom she met there, and who advised her never to miss work, under any circumstances, or she too would go "up the chimney". Julia listened and went to work, even though she was extremely ill with typhus.
In January 1945, she was taken on an evacuation march. During the following months, she was transferred westward, including to Ravensbrück. In April 1945, she managed to escape during a death march and eventually reached American soldiers.
After the war, she recovered the family apartment in Paris, married a fellow survivor, and raised two children. From the 1960s onward, and with growing intensity in recent decades, Wallach spoke regularly in schools and public events about her deportation and life in Auschwitz. In the 2020s her testimony reached wider audiences through films made by her granddaughter, filmmaker Frankie Wallach. In 2022, she was awarded the Légion d’honneur for her educational work.
May her memory be a blessing.

Hadde vært bra om norske myndigheter også publiserte en liste over norske selskaper som handler med Russland
Latvia has published a list of around 170 companies that continue to trade with Russia and Belarus, either exporting goods to or importing products from the two countries. The list, released by Latvia’s Central Statistical Bureau, will be updated monthly. The companies are not necessarily violating sanctions, as some trade in exempt goods such as food and medicine. Latvian media have dubbed the registry a shame list. The publication was enabled by legal amendments adopted in June.

A 2024 paper went massively viral for claiming that COVID-19 vaccines caused lots of excess deaths. I complained to the journal about it at the time.
It was recently retracted. What went wrong and why did it take so long?

Det gjorde rett og slett veldig godt å sjå Ola Svenneby stå opp for sin politiske motstandar, Gaute Skjervø. Som vi ser, er det mange som liker Svenneby sitt klare, saklege og balanserte forsvar av Skjervø.
