Really enjoyed this short film on community reintegration and life after punishment, sharing research by sociologist @DrJulieParsons and people leaving prison involved with @LandWorksHQ. Ethos seems to centre around creativity, hospitality, humanity, hope.

Krasner promised not to prosecute many low-level offenses. He reduced the number of people in Philly’s jail by more than 30%. The police lobby and tough-on-crime crowd slammed him. Then the voters chimed in, and approved of these policies overwhelmingly. nytimes.com/2021/05/19/us/kr…
After a year of a policy experiment, which had significant results for decreasing incarceration and crime, Baltimore will no longer prosecute low-level offences. This includes drug offences, prostitution, trespassing, minor traffic & misdemeanour offences.

Thoughtful points and practical strategies raised here by Hadar Aviram and @JonathanSimon59 on #decarceration and expediting the release of thousands of people from #prison 👇 There's credible evidence that decarceration isn't linked to increases in crime.
