In Collective Insight Practice, we let our bodies do the thinking. We think through our bodies. For beginners, the permutations and adumbrations of the body as it tries to think, take on old habits and create emotional content. This is to be expected; you must learn to ride out the storm. Eventually, the body recovers its innate ability to think through complex situations. The energies transform into something that feels pregnant but not replete. Something new is being born— an insight. The insight is then “served up to the mind”, often at first in inchoate form. You must be patient, allowing the body to paint the entire picture, for an insight is always a whole gestalt. It comes all at once, like a baby, when the time is right. A premature insight can be still born when the mind is too greedy to capture it. The mind wants to perform a caesarean because it has a clock-work schedule. Thinking through the bodily felt sense, then, is dramatically different than much of group practices that spend their time thinking about the bodily felt sense. Thinking about the bodily felt sense is still mind-control and subverts the body’s capacity to think through by itself.
