If you HATE VIDEO EDITING, read this:
*and no, I'm not going to tell you to hire an editor.
This 1 change fixed 3 of the biggest problems I had with editing:
1. It takes too much time
2. I hate listening to my own voice for hours on end
3. Its incredibly boring
Okay, maybe this is no duh, but here goes:
when I edit all of my footage, I watch it at 1.5x. Sometimes 1.7.
I know this doesn't seem that revolutionary but the math kinda blew my mind:
if it normally takes 3 hours to review footage...it now takes 2.
If it normally takes 6 hours...it now takes 4.
If you're at all ADHD this is also just a life saver because watching footage that you've already watched is pretty much the most boring thing I can imagine.
(now obviously for fine tuning I still do a pass through at 1x).
ALSO- this solves my 2nd biggest problem which is: editing fog
You know when youve looked at footage for the 10th time in a row and ur like I can't even tell anymore whether this is the worst thing Ive ever made or a work of genius...changing the speed of the footage gives you a totally new perspective.
It's fresh eyes.
Why this @AlexHormozi short went viral:
on the surface, it seems like it's a short about running a hair salon.
PROBLEM: if a dude running a real estate business hears this? He's probably gonna keep scrolling.
But Alex figured out a way to 10x the TAM
Look at what he put in the middle of the short for the first 10 seconds:
"WHY DO MY EMPLOYEES LEAVE"
every business owner has that fear (AND that problem).
And our scrolling lizard brains are very preoccupied with fear.
(he also gives a unique and very doable solution, which is what makes @AlexHormozi always great)
I found the formula that 10x'd @AlexHormozi's YouTube channel:
Anyone can talk about dating robots.
But not everyone has gone on a 48 hour romantic road trip to New Hampshire with a robot named Evan.
That’s rare.

Founders and CEOs must change the way they do interviews.
1. Long form is dead.
2. The clip is the product.
3. So the way you answer questions must change.
4. Repeat every question with tone and excitement.
5. Imagine, every answer is it's own clip (because it will be).
6. This will increase retention as it provides the hook, the interviewer needs to turn it into an amazing clip on it's own.
We must change the way we create content to work with the algorithm.
Compare that to @hubermanlab's thumbnail for the same guest- hard to believe it's the same person.
This matters for 2 reasons...
1st reason is just common sense:
people are more likely to click on someone who looks good and confident.
The 2nd reason is subtle but important:
a flattering photo sends a signal to future guests that they’re going to be treated well and shown in a good light, which makes better guests more likely to say yes in the future.
by the way...the 100k thumbnail? It's @FoundersPodcast 5th highest video of all time (and the other 4 are all super famous people).
