Obviously, being deceptive is wrong. People like Ember should have been candid on day 1 that he is a man. But really... This is the internet, and anyone using a voice changer and acting like that? Probably a dude.
Tons of people, including me, don't use a pfp or avatar that matches their "gender" or even species in some cases. I've been transparent about this from day 1, and pretty easy to infer... A Stellar Blade fan makes lewd AI models, and based on the language I use... anyone would think that I'm 99.99% a male. Plus, I identify myself as such on my profile.
Also, no. I'm not an Apple either :).
To me, this was one of the least surprising surprises; maybe I've been chronically online for too long, and I suspect many other people who are actually men.
I'm just annoyed by how this whole thing was handled, and he should have been confronted privately, and he should have been given the opportunity to come clean first, instead of being called out publicly.

This Ember nonsense is so far out of hand. Sensationalism wrapped in reactive tribalism. I don't care who it offends. The presumption of malicious intent is disingenuous at best.
Is it distasteful to continue to conceal information in private? Depending entirely on context, but yes. Does it prove ill-intentions? Not in the slightest. In particular when a brand - a business - is attached.
So rather than crucify someone for whom you have missing pieces? I'll say this:
Throughout Ember's streaming career their public face - and for all I know their private one, but I'm not presuming - has been a net positive in opposition to certain destructive ideologies. So I for one will choose to acknowledge something known as Agency for those who spoke to Ember privately, or had conversations they might not have under certain circumstances.
Why? Because it's the internet. You never truly know until you've met someone. Don't have conversations you wouldn't have with someone you don't know. And no, contrary to popular belief, people online do NOT owe you full disclosure for online interactions. Your circle is your responsibility.
Note: I'm not condoning the secrecy under pretense that it's anyone else's fault for interacting as a whole. I'm simply acknowledging, from what's been going around, that some people chose to have deeply personal conversations without actually knowing who they were speaking to. That is their own choice.
Does it feel like a betrayal? I'm sure.
Are they allowed to feel that way? Absolutely.
Is anyone else, outside of that interaction, in a position to crucify a single side of the equation? No.
Save your outrage, be constructive - not emotional on behalf of someone else.

Just not a fan of this constant need for purity testing and counter-signaling people on the "antiwoke" side... especially when it has to meet some kind of religious standard in accordance with one person's interpretation of Christianity.
It happened with the whole "abortion" debate, and now it's whether a right-wing VTuber is male or not.
I honestly don't care.
We need as much unity as possible on this side to push back against the leftists, and we end up with more infighting that opens us up to attacks from the LGBTQ.
Heck, even the current drama started because the transgender activists (whooith and others) convinced one of the right-wing VTubers (strawb) that Emberparadox might be a "man" and turned it into a huge deal... and now it's not even just Strawb who is engaging in the counter-signaling.
We got major issues to tackle on the culture war, immigration problems, functional society issues... and things like this don't even rate on my radar of shit to care about. When Western civilization is literally on the line, secondary or tertiary issues are a red herring, a distraction that will lead us astray.
Am I supposed to care that Ember wrote some cringe-weird romance novel about someone turning trans 10 years ago? nope!
Anime and manga have way weirder stuff along with taboo elements that are far more "morally problematic," and generally the anti-woke, anti-censorship side doesn't raise a stink about it.
