For me it's the moment when you order a take-away coffee & they swivel the iPad round and then awkwardly pretend to start doing something in the background as you are presented with tipping options. Then when they hear the payment sound they turn back around.
American tipping culture is their worst cultural export by far

Hesitated in the checkout for the iPhone Duo for a few seconds and my delivery date went from the end of October to start of December. Curious if the demand is super strong or there was limited supply.

Tell-tale signs that an investor letter is about to disclose returns that smell worse than a wet garbage bag on a hot Florida morning. - Opening prose includes Greek philosophy - Quotes Ben Graham - Portfolio is "well positioned" for "ridiculous CAGR"

Each Starship launch could generate $1 billion in revenue. Elon is aiming for 10,000 flights per year, or $10 trillion in Starship revenues, by 2030. If SpaceX achieves this goal, its $1.75 trillion IPO will be considered, in hindsight, a deep value opportunity!

Guy on the right predates the following things: • The transistor • The microwave oven • Duct tape • WD40 • The superbowl • The polio vaccine • The United Nations & NATO • India's independence • The ballpoint pen
This is not acceptable. This is humiliating for the country. I don’t know what needs to be done, but we have to stop this. The senate is not hospice.

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Continuing on from last year, I have set a goal of 15 books to read in 2026. 1) First book down this morning. A respectable 3.5/5. For anyone looking to establish a ‘feet on the ground’ perspective on a financial journalist living through the Asian Crisis, then this is the book to do so. The author’s first-hand accounts are shared in chronological order, complimented with his comments some two decades later. I would recommend taking a good bite out of this book with each sitting, it’s one to get engrossed in. I found that reading it short intervals results in it being harder to read. xitter.cf/InvestmentTalkk/status…
14) The Asian Financial Crisis by Russell Napier. Fiddy pages deep. Seems good so far.

16) When McKinsey Comes to Town. 3.5/5 The authors have a bias. Which is that McKinsey is the root of all evil. Some balance would have been appreciated, but if you can look past the evident lack of objectivity, it’s an entertaining and insightful book.

The brokerage: “Absolutely we can make it 7,000 trades”.
Just checked and I have transacted close to 7000 times in the last 4 years on my brokerage!!! Thats insane although OTOH, someone like Trump does average 1000/month!!

I feel like this category of tech debt has existed long before AI. AI generated / reviewed code will accelerate it, make it more prevalent.
I think AI will create a new category of technical debt: Code nobody on the team truly understands because it was generated, reviewed quickly, and merged because it worked. Six months later: “Why does this function exist?” Nobody knows.

It’s been entertaining to watch this guy create new grifts time and time again, throughout every cycle. Tenacity is impressive.

People give economists a bad rep but they have predicted 204 of the last 3 recessions. Something to think about.
All 75 economists in a recent Bloomberg survey expected the US economy to add jobs in July. It fell 23k. "Every company that has an economist working for it has one employee too many." Warren Buffett

"Just pull the trigger" would have been the correct answer.
Gun to your head, you have to make one of these two a 50% position and hold it for the next 36 months. Which are you choosing? $PYPL $ADYEN
