The fact that we still have nuclear weapons tells me people don’t understand them. When I was at Uni, we studied descriptions from survivors of the atomic blasts at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I thought it would be like learning about any other harrowing history. I was very wrong. It disturbed me in my bones and never left me.
When the atomic bombs detonated in Japan, some of these survivors literally thought it was an alien invasion. This was because the flash was so blinding bright and silent, they had never imagined anything like it before. There was also no noise for those close to the blast. The shockwave hit their ears at the same time as the sound, sending them flying and shattering everything in its wake. This became known as the Pika-Don.
For those further away from the detonation, the sound following the flash was deafening beyond description. It was described as an impossible crack, as if the sky had snapped open. This was trailed by a terrifying deep roar that screamed outwards. It was considered one of the loudest events in human history.
Then there was the thermal heat wave. It was so hot it vaporised people in the open instantly and other peoples clothes melted into their skin. Many were burned beyond belief and just stood there screaming or silent, as the sky turned black from the dust, ash and debris. Wild firestorms spread throughout the city, as people searched in darkness for their families and friends.
But the worst was yet to come. Those that died in the blast were the lucky ones. Over the coming days and weeks, people’s hair fell out. Without explanation those that had incredibly survived, started to confusingly fall ill and perish over time. I don’t want to describe the side effects of the radiation sickness, but it made me cry reading about it. The hopelessness, suffering and courage of the people that succumbed to this, should be mandatory reading for everyone, to understand the true power of nuclear weapons.

When a person says “I’m ecstatic I cut off my dick,” and they really mean it, it’s not a sign of improved mental health. It’s not a sign that a medical necessity was fulfilled. It’s not a sign that anyone was saved from suicide.
It’s a sign that they’ve invested the whole of their being in a cult of self-harm that convinced them that inflicting the ultimate sexual violence on themselves was their sole gateway to becoming their true selves — that who they really were is a castrated man who superficially resembles a girl with a nonfunctional simulacra of female genitals that must be dilated daily to prevent it from closing up.

Schaefer was the telos to which the puberty blocking experiment was aimed: he was chemically castrated so that an adult male who resembles a teen girl could be paraded around before cameras, so that troglodytic men can say “now that’s a woman!” when shown a picture of him because his definition of a “woman” is “something I want to fuck,” so that idiotic celebrities can wear “Protect the Dolls” t-shirts that call for brainwashing more quirky little boys into yearning to have the ultimate sexual violence inflicted on them — all so that middle aged male cross-dressers who beat off while wearing women’s panties can have a legal right to enter the women’s changing room that no woman can deny.

You went to Ukraine. You witnessed the reality of Russia’s invasion. You met President Zelenskyy. You publicly admitted that you were wrong about Ukraine and that Russian propaganda had influenced your views. I respect anyone who can admit being wrong. But there’s something I cannot reconcile, and I want you to explain it.
How does someone with your influence, your access to information, and millions of followers get brainwashed about something the entire world has been watching for years? Russia’s invasion wasn’t some carefully hidden secret. The destroyed Ukrainian cities, the murdered civilians, the atrocities, the deported children, the evidence of Russian aggression were all there. Available to anyone willing to look. You didn’t need to travel to Ukraine to discover that Russia invaded a sovereign country. So how did you, someone who presents herself as an informed and independent thinker, fail to recognize something so obvious?
And now comes the part that troubles me even more. You recognize Putin as a war criminal. You recognize that Ukrainians are defending their country. Yet you remain fiercely loyal to Donald Trump, even as his administration makes decisions that appear to benefit the very aggressor you now condemn. Trump has pursued a Russian diesel deal while Ukraine is striking Russian refineries. His administration is reportedly threatening to interfere with European purchases of American weapons for Ukraine and cut intelligence sharing to pressure Kyiv into stopping those strikes. You understand what that means, Laura. You understand who benefits.
So why the silence when it comes to Trump? Why the careful political gymnastics? Why can you condemn Putin, criticize Russian propaganda, and defend Zelenskyy, but seemingly cannot bring yourself to confront the contradictions in Trump’s own actions?
And this brings me to the question I really want to ask you. Was your transformation genuine? Did you finally recognize how deeply Russian propaganda had penetrated the American conservative movement, including your own thinking? Or are we watching something entirely different? Are you beginning to distance yourself from a political movement whose future is increasingly uncertain, while trying to preserve your influence and your relationship with Trump at the same time?
I’m not claiming to know your motives. That’s precisely why I’m asking. Because there is a fundamental difference between someone who genuinely changes their mind after confronting the truth and someone who changes their public position when the political winds begin to shift.
I believe people can change. I believe people deserve the opportunity to acknowledge their mistakes. But recognizing the truth comes with responsibility, especially when millions of people listen to you. And that responsibility doesn’t disappear when the truth becomes politically inconvenient.
I’m not asking you to become a liberal, a Democrat, or anything other than who you are. I’m asking whether your principles are stronger than your loyalty to one man. If you now understand what Putin is doing to Ukraine, are you willing to speak just as openly when Donald Trump’s actions help Putin?
Because that, to me, is the real test of whether you’ve changed your mind or simply changed your position.

The death toll of yesterday’s Russian missile strike on a residential building in Zaporizhzhia has increased from 20 to 23.
The picture of Natalia Foshchan holding her 15-year-old daughter Polina’s hand under the rubble has gone viral in Ukraine.
Natalia, Polina and the grandmother Vira were all killed in the strike.
The family had fled to Zaporizhzhia after their home village near Fedorivka got occupied by Russia in 2022.
The father Sergei wasn’t able to flee with them and later went missing. They had been waiting for news about his fate for 4 years.
