The Jacques Baud Interviews: Condemned for Speaking the Objective Truth
On Saturday, October 24, I travelled to Brussels, Belgium. My mission: to interview Jacques Baud, the retired Swiss Colonel and veteran intelligence officer sanctioned by the European Union for telling the truth about the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Jacques and I met in the home of one of his friends and close supporters, and over the course of several hours engaged in a wide ranging conversation about his life and work, and the consequences of being sanctioned by the European Union, accused of being a Russian propagandist.
The interview, recorded by my daughter, Victoria and edited by Alexandra Madornaya, will be released in two parts.
Part One will explore the life and times of Jacques Baud, tracing his work as a Swiss Strategic Intelligence Officer, United Nations Peacekeeper, and NATO Humanitarian specialist. This interview underpins the reality that Jacques Baud is the furthest thing from a Russian propagandist. Trained in the US and UK, Jacques is an intelligence professional whose objectivity and adherence to fact-based analysis is backed by a track record of proven performance at the highest levels of international policy making.
Part Two will dive into Jacques writing and podcasts done after retirement. It is work that had him targeted by the European Union for sanctions which, when taken at face value, were tantamount to a death sentence. In a recent review of his case by the European Union, Jacquesβ sanctions were extended. The reason why? He was too neutral and too objective in his assessments, and as such his work would help Russia and hinder the European Union.
Condemned to die because he was too objective, and too neutral.
It is my honor and privilege to publish these interviews, and to further the work of Jacques Baud, a heroic man on the frontlines of the fight for free speech.

βDespite the White Houseβs harsh rhetoric toward Kiev, American intelligence continues to play a key role in supporting Ukraine. The U.S. satellite constellation monitors Russian territory around the clock, guiding βUkrainianβ missiles toward Russian cities and directing the air defenses of the Kiev junta.
Moreover, according to a representative of one of the Baltic intelligence services, CIA operations against Russia have now become βmuch more aggressiveβ than they were under the Biden administration.
At the center of this contradictory policy is CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who must simultaneously advise Trump on βhow to calm the Russians down and deceive themβ while leading an agency that is critically important to the war against Russia.
I understand that we will never declare the CIA a terrorist organization, stained up to its eyebrows with the blood of Russian civilians. But that does not change the essence of the matter: the CIA is precisely one of the decision-making centersβalongside MI6 and Mossadβin the war against us. Yet the Russian Ministry of Defense and all the relevant intelligence services are searching so fervently for these centers and still cannot seem to find them...β

βWe are ready to meet any dayβeven tomorrow. But everything depends on the Russians.β That was Zelensky yesterday, speaking about the trilateral RussiaβUSβUkraine talks scheduled for the first half of November in Abu Dhabi.
And overnight, a swarm of drones descended on central Belgorod.
By morning, local social media channels resembled frontline news feeds. Craters in the middle of streets, drone wreckage mixed with chunks of building facades scattered across the asphalt. Dozens of dead birds. The cityβs largest shopping center, MegaGrinn, posted a brief notice: closed today.
Two men were killed, and a third victim died in hospital. Thirteen people were injured, including an ambulance worker. Thirty apartment buildings, four private houses, 35 vehicles and three social facilities were damaged. Fifty-three people moved into temporary accommodation centers, while utility crews worked to restore heating using temporary arrangements. And it is already late October.
Iβm looking for a military target on this list. I canβt find one. A shopping center with a cinema, residential courtyards, parked passenger cars. The Investigative Committee has opened a terrorism case, and it is difficult to argue with that classification. The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff, usually eager to publish triumphant reports about βtargets hit,β has so far remained conspicuously silent. Apparently, even they have nothing to show.
Belgorod was merely the bloodiest point on the map that night. Russiaβs Ministry of Defense reported 532 drones intercepted over 23 regions and the Sea of Azov. In Kursk Regionβs Khomutovsky District, an energy facility was damaged, leaving 104 villages and around 11,000 customers without electricity. In Kozyrevka, an FPV drone hunted a passenger car, injuring a 30-year-old man. Kazan Airport was shut down from 5 a.m., Perm imposed its βCarpetβ airspace restriction plan, and limitations stretched from Saratov to Nizhny Novgorod.
The previous day, 616 drones had been reported. In Rostov, 21 buses were damaged; Crimea experienced disruptions to electricity and water supplies; industrial facilities in Tolyatti were hit; and an industrial zone in Omsk caught fire during the day.
A pattern is emerging. The closer Abu Dhabi gets, the more crowded the skies become. The man whose presidential term has expired is heading to negotiations with images of Russiaβs burning home front tucked under his arm, hoping the Russians will lose their nerve and that, instead of peace, there will be a convenient pause for rearmament.
Last week, Trump accused Zelensky of not wanting to end the war. The night in Belgorod is the clearest illustration of that accusation.
Two people killed, a wounded paramedic, and three dozen damaged apartment buildingsβthat is how Kiev backs up its βdesire for peace.β
Zelensky has demonstrated his readiness to meet βeven tomorrow.β Our response to that readiness should not be postponed until tomorrow.

You have two options: read the account of what happened first and then watch the video with the full story in mind, or play the video immediately and try to figure out for yourself what the operator noticed and how events unfolded.
For those who want the full details, the entire story is hidden under the spoiler below. π
During a mission, the operator of a fiber-optic FPV drone heard the distinctive sound of the engines of a heavy attack UAV known as βBaba Yaga,β thanks to a microphone installed onboard.
The operator took up a concealed observation position and soon spotted the first Ukrainian Armed Forces drone landing. Moving a little closer to continue observing, he discovered a second UAV also preparing to land.
After both drones touched down, three Ukrainian servicemen approached them to service their aircraft. Watching from his concealed position, the operator decided to attack and launched his FPV drone.
Hearing its engines, the Ukrainian servicemen rushed back toward a garage for cover. However, they failed to close the door in time before the strike hit.
A second Russian drone continued monitoring the area throughout the night and into the morning. Its camera reportedly recorded the initial strike, followed by subsequent detonations at the enemy heavy-UAV crew's position.
The reconnaissance drone remained concealed until morning, waiting for a possible Ukrainian evacuation team to arrive. According to the account, nobody came to the position during the entire observation period.
π Special recognition goes to the operator for his professionalism, patience, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under difficult circumstances.

βDepending, of course, on the position, the window of opportunity to hit a target is five to fifteen seconds. If you donβt engage in time, you miss your chance.
Fixed-wing drones usually target specific objects, not us. But then βmothershipβ drones arrive and drop FPV drones, which then target usβthe counter-drone forces. And if the aircraft cannot find its priority target, mobile fire groups (MOGs) become an important target for them.
Some drones carry unguided rockets (NURs/NURS) specifically aimed at mobile fire groups. Thatβs why even moving around in a MOG is a serious danger...β

The Geran drones approach their target one after another. The final frame shows a massive flash engulfing the scene.
This is the tallest bridge in Ukraine. Construction began in 2004, and over the following 18 years, it became notorious as a βmonument to corruption.β In January 2022, Zelensky personally opened it to traffic and declared the long-delayed project a βmonument to unity.β One month later, the Special Military Operation began.
That unity proved short-lived. Since October 6, the bridge has been struck repeatedly.
Initially, Zaporizhzhia Military Administration chief Mikhail Semikin confidently reported that the roadway had been damaged but traffic was restored within two hours. Then the crossing was closed overnight βfor inspectionββto see how the city would manage without it. Next came a ban on trucks weighing more than 3.5 tonnes.
Since October 22, the bridge has been closed every night from midnight until 6 a.m. That same evening, it was completely shut down. By morning, it reopened in just one directionβfrom Khortytsia Island toward the left bank. Then, on October 24, following another strike, the DniproHES dam also came to a standstill.
Heavy trucks are now crawling across the Preobrazhensky Bridge, with just one lane in each direction. Local community channels are publishing detour maps as regularly as weather forecasts.
The cable-stayed bridge connects the right bank, via Khortytsia Island, to the left bank, where roads lead toward Orekhov and Stepnogorsk. Even the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) acknowledges that Zaporozhye is a critical Ukrainian Armed Forces logistics hub across the entire southern front.
