Maybe accidentally missing Steam Next Fest and releasing our demo the day after it ended wasn't such a mistake after all. Wheel of Death is currently in the top 10 new and trending demos on Steam!!!! Can we get to top 5!?

CAN YOU SURVIVE THE WHEEL? Here is your chance to prove it. The demo is live!! (and our chance to nerf it in case the wheel is actually way too powerful and no one can survive the wheel and we're not very good at balancing for the demo which has a limited card pool but hopefully still isn't too bad and feels challenging but achievable I mean hey listen we're new at this it's only our second game okay we're just little guys doing our best you know so I don't know why you're still reading this but if you're this dedicated you can definitely conquer the wheel so go out there and try our demo via the link below and let us know if you did indeed survive the wheel)

This game is amazing. If you like Balatro, go wishlist it right now. It’s like that, but more exciting.
The wheel gives, and the wheel takes.

So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

The page for our new game is up on Steam, with a playable demo landing very very soon! Go wishlist!! Wheel of Death is a spin on the Balatro "big-numbers-go-up" genre. Modify the wheel, play chips, tarot cards, add seals and choose a hero! store.steampowered.com/app/4…

Great watch about the insanity that is AI game dev rn. Every game is getting decompiled and put together (minecraft in skyrim, pokemon in balatro...). Every game mechanic is becoming open source... They even recreated adobe photoshop from source?? youtube.com/watch?v=jp7hM1vK…

This is al fairly recent so the implications are massive and have yet to be felt. How good are models by next year and how are games going to get protected by then? The only moat that exists are novel concepts and creative ideas that AI can't just rip off or recreate.

Jev is probably the best thing to ever happen to AI, and my favorite thing to experiment with. Unlike generative AI that outsources creative thinking and comes with lots more ethical (and global) implications, Jev REWARDS creative thinking and genuinely improves parts of life.

For those unaware, please look up Jev. It's nothing like the AI you imagine or know of. It rewards technical knowlegde and is made to be built into software. I feel like it's a glimmer of hope and optimism for both AI doomers and AI optimists.

I made a video game and now I can launch sales whenever I want and call them whatever I want. No one can stop me. I'd like to formally announce the "we made a sexy tentacle hero with a spooky tentacle island and we want people to play him so the game is on sale for a week" sale! Check it out: store.steampowered.com/app/3…

I can with confidence say that everyone who has these takes has never developed a real game
I’m pretty sure gaming as a category is dead because everyone is just gonna build their own games Games don’t have ongoing maintenance cost like companies replacing SaaS vendors Perhaps an argument for wanting someone else to build an experience for you, easier to watch a movie than create one. But video games and vibe coding are so close the difference between creating the form and playing in a form is getting closer and closer to zero. So why play someone else’s game? Just pay chatgpt $20 and make you own

While working on our next game i got completely sucked into a playtest, forgetting what i was doing and losing track of time.. This has to be the best possible metric to track in game dev right? Having a genuinely fun game > everything else

Here are some open source project I've been working on (linked below): - Steam Uploader: putting builds up on steam was such a bad experience, I built a little tool to make it easier - SkyShard Public: all of our unit, enchant, encounter, hero... data. For people making tools

- Godot plugin updater: Godot plugins don't have native update support. This little script sets up projects with all plugins you want and keeps them updated - GodexCLI: a Godot plugin that functions as an inline auto-complete using Codex. Anti vibe-coding, just more efficiency
