Today we report on the mechanism of intermolecular deprotonation and decomposition of tin(II) amides, and highlight that this mechanism is thermally accessible for the well-known Sn(HMDS)2. Variation of the amide enables access to C(sp2)–H and C(sp3)–H activated products.

Our latest paper investigating Calcium-Zinc cooperativity is just out in @Orgmet_ACS. Pleasure to see @MarcosLopezAg get stuck into this during his time at @BathChem, Vamos!

From photoexcited Ga(III) to Ga(I).
Unexpectedly, Ga(I) reacts via photoinduced disproportionation, enabling the first oxidative addition of aryl iodides at a Group 13 center.
Our latest work is now out in @J_A_C_S!
Huge credit to Nijito and Sota!

We've been busy! Another publication from our collaboration with Profs Chalker and Flewitt has been published this week. We report here on how aluminium incorporation changes the semiconducting properties of bulk SnO. Read about it here: iopscience.iop.org/article/1…
Just out in Advanced Electronic Materials! In collaboration with Profs. Chalker (@LivUni) and Flewitt (@Cambridge_Uni @SidneySussex), we report on the low temperature ALD and processing of SnO, with long term stable (>2 years!) TFTs. Check it out here: advanced.onlinelibrary.wiley…
Proud that my first joint corresponding author, and #MyFirstChemSci is now online at @ChemicalScience. We report on a Rh(III) σ-alkane complex that is indefinitely stable in the solid-state, where the supporting ligand undergoes reversible C-H activation.

DFT calculations (@MacgregorChem) shed light on the role of the trans ligand (alkene, alkane, allyl) in the reversible nature of the C-H activation of the backbone. @WellerYorkChem
Nice to see this online and happy to contribute with the DFT. A huge amount of work went into this paper across multiple universities! Well done to all involved!

We recently published a tutorial on single-crystal to single-crystal transformations and solid/gas methods in @DaltonTrans. We hope that this guide encourages many others to give the solid-state a go! pubs.rsc.org/en/content/arti…

Happy to have been able to contribute to the DFT aspects of this paper. Glad to see it out!
Just out in @InorgChem, we report on the synthesis of a family of zinc metallacarborane complexes, and the thorough investigation of the Zn-carborane bonding through quantum chemical calculations.

We’re excited to share the next step in our pursuit of weak ligands: the successful coordination of an alkane and characterisation and isolation of its complex.
Many thanks to our cooperation partners at the UNSW Sydney, who made the characterisation in solution possible
Why does n-Pentane coordinate towards the 16 VE fragment [Mn(CO)5]+. The answer is simple: it is the best ligand available in this system. Read about the necessary conditions here @KrossingGroup @Malte_Sellin @James_DWatson #AngewandteVIP #openaccess 🔓 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
