I remember when I first started trading I knew nothing about trading psychology until I started losing trades and then like many I turned to the book Trading in the zone by Mark Douglas. I still didn't learn from my mistakes and continued trading. At that stage it was emotional trading along with my ego assisting. Fear, greed, revenge trading you name it... I was doing everything but following my plan. You want to know what changed? It was persistence and experience with the markets. Over time I learnt what worked and what didn't. There isn't any secret formula or a holy grail system. It's just you versus you. Take control of your emotions and backtest the hell out of your strategy. That's the only way you will grow.

Take a moment to appreciate how far you've come. Every trade taught you something. Every challenge tested you. Every setback gave you a chance to grow. Don't measure your progress by profit alone. Look at your discipline, your patience and your growth. Keep learning and keep believing in the journey. 📈💪

You don't fail because your setup was wrong. You fail when you break your own rules. Watch your habits.

Forward testing teaches you things backtesting alone can't. It shows how well you execute your strategy in real time, handle uncertainty and manage yourself when real decisions have to be made. The key is to focus on gathering quality data and following your rules consistently. The goal is progress, not perfection.

It's not always failure that makes traders quit. It's the fear of failing again. The fear of taking another loss. The fear of getting it wrong. The fear of not being good enough. I've experienced this myself. There were times I questioned whether I was good enough to make it as a trader. After a string of losses, I'd doubt myself and lose confidence in my decisions. I would become more focused on avoiding another loss than executing my plan. What I learnt the hard way is that losses don't define your ability. The real challenge is learning to accept failure without letting the fear of it dictate how you trade.

What can traders learn from saturation divers, who work in one of the most dangerous and highly paid professions in the world? Quite a lot, actually! These people perform incredibly precise work in extremely hazardous conditions. But if they allowed themselves to become distracted by how much money they were earning, the consequences could be catastrophic. And I think there's a powerful lesson in that for traders. Here's why... #tradingpsychology #daytrader

The market will always be here. Another opportunity will come. Your job is to recognise that.

One habit that can make a real difference: journalling straight after every trade. It's worth noting things like whether you followed your plan, how you felt, what went well and what you could learn from the trade. The details matter, and they're easiest to capture while the trade is still fresh. Over time your journal can reveal valuable insights you might otherwise miss. 🎯

Not every trading day needs to be a winning day. Some days you make money. Some days you learn. Both are part of the journey.

Trading is a long game. Your first year is about learning the markets, making mistakes and figuring out what works for you. Treat your education like a university course. There's no need to rush it.

WHY DO I GET INTO THE HABIT OF REVENGE TRADING? Because losing money triggers emotions that cloud your judgement. Your ego wants to prove you're right. Your frustration wants to recover the loss. You want to make money quickly, so you start abandoning your trading rules. But remember: You cannot fix an emotional problem with another trade. A loss doesn't need revenge. It needs acceptance. Start today with discipline, patience and a clear mind. Protect your psychology, and you protect your edge.

Never lose your faith in trading. I started with $6,000 at 19 and no clue. 16 years later I have an 8-figure portfolio. But this year I lost $1.9 million on a silver trade in a flash crash. The difference between the ones who make it and the ones who don’t? I was at my desk the next morning. The ones who don’t make it quit showing up. Your current situation isn’t your final destination. Keep going.

One trade means nothing. One week tells you very little. Even one month is a relatively small sample size. Think in hundreds of trades. It's a game of probabilities. Your edge reveals itself over a large sample size, not a handful of outcomes.

Steven Pressfield calls it Resistance. That inner voice that makes you hesitate, overthink and question yourself when it’s time to do the work. In trading it might show up when your setup appears, when you avoid reviewing a difficult day, or when you feel the urge to abandon your system because you’re afraid of being wrong. Sometimes the challenge isn’t knowing what to do. It’s dealing with what comes up when it’s time to do it.

Profitable trading is 80% mechanical and 20% discretionary. It requires the discipline to follow your trade plan at all times, while still having the awareness to adapt when market conditions change and the confidence to trust your intuition when it is loud enough.

The difference between an A+ setup and a trade that doesn't fit your plan? Your ability to keep out of the market and put your energy elsewhere.

Recently I noticed some variance in my live trading that wasn't quite lining up with my data. So I took a closer look, investigated what was happening and made a few refinements. Am I still profitable? Absolutely. Will I continue to be? You bet. Trading is never about getting everything right all the time. Sometimes things need tweaking and that's part of the process. The key to longevity in the markets is being willing to adapt and refine when needed. 💪

Trading is a struggle. Months of losing. Months of doubt. Months of learning. Months of grinding without results. Then one day... It clicks. The chart makes sense. Your mindset levels up. Your trades get better. And finally.. the profits start coming. Be patient. Great things take time.
