Getting cargo off a ship is only one part of the journey. An October 21 announcement commits up to C$254 million to planned improvements across the Saint John trade corridor, connecting port facilities with rail and road infrastructure.
The work includes warehouse expansion, marine upgrades, road-crossing separation and improvements to 103 kilometres of railway. Shoreline protection is also planned for the port’s only rail access to its Bayshore terminal.
That last detail caught my attention. A bigger gateway needs dependable connections inland. The project brings several links in the same freight journey into one infrastructure plan.

NASA's latest Moon Base rover update is a good look at what it actually takes to drive on another world. On October 20, the agency described upcoming tests of rover tires, mobility systems and drivable lunar terrain vehicle mockups.
Engineers will examine how the vehicles perform in simulated lunar conditions before flight hardware is delivered. These aren't just moon buggies for a photo opportunity. Their jobs could include transporting astronauts, mapping terrain and helping locate resources needed for longer missions.
