I realize that some papers may also be using AI to aid with reporting, but I really can’t emphasize to young and aspiring journalists enough how critical it is that you get up and go do original reporting and talk to actual people right now. Almost every young budding conservative journalist I meet, and this has been the case for years, wants to be a literary journal editor or focus on opinion writing. Go actually talk to people, go to events and be a fly on the wall! Use your observational skills and imagination to write something AI can’t, because you’re including words said to your human face from actually ensouled human beings. You will be competing with probably hundreds of more qualified candidates when you apply for the rare editorial position opening, sorry. So go build trust with sources, get as many bylines as you can with as much original reporting as you can get. It’ll put hair on your chest and give you grit. This is a transferable skill in short supply. *You are competing with a machine!* Your competitive advantage is physical presence and moral judgement. Go do the leg work, sit in someone’s office or living room and talk to them and take in the small details like their gestures and mannerisms or the idiosyncrasies of the space they inhabit. Read some John McPhee and Tom Wolfe to see how that’s done in an entertaining way. Bring a camera or use your phone and take pictures instead of depending on AI slop images! Journalism at its best is a public service built around human stories!
In a statement, WSJ opinion editor Paul Gigot defends Druckenmiller's use of AI to write Monday's op ed, saying "AI is a fact of modern life," and "nobody can doubt that his op-ed is his genuine opinion."

I'm sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had a an impact on me. She definitely didn't have to take the time to do it. Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words.

They all praised him as an editor and person. He was so touched and proud of those notes that he texted me “this is what I lived for.” And he meant that. He cared so much about his job and the people he worked with and I so happy he got to hear all those kind words before he died

I continue to be in awe of my incredible @WSJ colleagues and our collective support for my friend Evan Gershkovich. He's now going through a sham trial in Russia just for being a journalist. #IStandWithEvan #FreeEvan
Last week, @WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich appeared in a Russian court for the start of a sham trial, his head shaved on order of prison authorities. I’m shaving mine in solidarity. Evan is a journalist and journalism is not a crime. #IStandwithEvan

We are outraged that Evan is being subjected to this sham trial based on a resoundingly false accusation. Evan is a beloved son, brother, friend, colleague and gifted journalist. He should be free. It cannot happen soon enough. #IStandWithEvan ⁦@WSJ⁩
