This recognition is more than a ranking. It is a reflection of the trust placed in us by the trade community and a reminder that progress is a continuous pursuit. It is built through thousands of efficient vessel calls, faster turnaround times, smarter processes, stronger infrastructure, and the collective efforts of an entire port community.

A defining milestone for India’s maritime future! In Seoul today, I met with HD Hyundai Chairman Mr. Chung Ki-sun to rapidly advance the massive $4 billion greenfield mega shipyard at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
Guided by Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji's vision, India is poised to become a core pillar of HD Hyundai's global future as it reiterates its commitment to participate as the primary strategic investor in this flagship project.
To accelerate execution on the ground, a Joint Working Group comprising officials from both sides would steer the project, aiming to finalise the joint venture structure and DPR within six months.

'Made-in-India' Containers: Now a Reality!
In a historic decision, Cabinet chaired by Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji approves the Container Manufacturing Promotion Scheme (CMPS) with a budgetary outlay of ₹10,000 crore up to FY 2039–40.
This marks a significant step towards building an Aatmanirbhar and globally competitive container manufacturing ecosystem in India.

From the moment a truck arrives, technology takes over, backed by Zodiac, the in-house Terminal Operating System developed and maintained by DP World. Smarter, automated gates with RFID, OCR, and kiosks identify vehicles and containers, process documentation, and control access, enhancing efficiency and security, reducing wait times and speeding up turnaround.
The result is a smoother flow from gate to yard to delivery, with fewer waits, tighter security and faster turnaround. All of it connects with JNPA’s Port Community System (PCS1x), keeping documents, payments and approvals moving digitally.
Time saved at the port is growth gained for trade.

As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, JNPA organised a two-day seminar on Public Procurement to strengthen awareness of transparent, accountable and ethical procurement practices.

Here we spotlight the terminals powering India’s gateway to global trade. This week, we follow the story of two terminals, NSICT and NSIGT, operated by @DP_World.
It all began in 1997. At JNPA, Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT) commenced its operations as India’s first public-private partnership model in the port sector. It was the first chapter of private participation in India’s maritime story.
Later, to further strengthen the maritime sector, JNPA and DP World again came together to establish Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal (NSIGT) in 2016. Together, NSICT and NSIGT now offer over 2 million TEU of capacity, linked by rail to inland hubs across India.
From one terminal’s first chapter to a connected gateway. 5 days. 5 stories. One port.
