In 2015 Elizabeth Holmes was worth $4.5 billion. She told CBS she didn't own a TV because she worked every waking hour.
When people questioned her blood tests, she had an answer ready.
In the video below, she says that if your invention gets questioned, "that's a sign you've actually done something transformative."
Her company Theranos claimed it could run hundreds of tests from one drop of blood. Walgreens put it in stores. Investors put in over $700 million. Henry Kissinger sat on her board.
The machines never worked. Most tests were secretly run on regular lab equipment. Patients got wrong results about cancer, HIV and pregnancies.
In 2022 she was convicted of fraud. She is serving more than 11 years in federal prison.
The questions she called a sign of success were the truth the whole time.
Was she a liar from the start, or a believer who couldn't admit she failed?

🦔A security researcher took apart his own Samsung TV and says its software screenshots what’s on the screen and uses AI to label the sounds in the room, all for ad targeting. If the TV has no microphone, he says it looks for one on a connected soundbar. Samsung hasn’t responded, and other researchers haven’t confirmed the findings yet.
My Take
I think most people assume their TV just plays whatever they pick. For the companies that make them, the TV is also an ad business, and Vizio said years ago it earned more profit from ads and viewer data than from selling the sets. Texas sued Samsung and four other TV makers last year over screenshot tracking. If this researcher is right, AI now lets the TV label what it hears in your living room too, without ever sending a recording anywhere.
According to Texas, Samsung made opting out take more than 15 clicks while opting in took one, and I don’t see that as an accident. The consent is technically there, but most people never find it. More states will go after this, and until the rules force a simple yes or no at setup, the easiest fix is keeping the TV off your Wi-Fi and plugging in a streaming box.

Anna Paulina Luna has voted six times to continue the Iran war. Now we might know why. Her husband owns 10% of Nokturnal AI, a drone startup she valued at just $1,000 in 2025 that has since raked in $37 million in Pentagon contracts. Coincidence? We don’t think so. Luna talks a big game about fighting corruption, but the rules never seem to apply when it’s her pockets that are being lined.
