In San Diego for the weekend & just saw a @Waymo zoom by. Alas, it's invite only for SD.
Hopefully once I'm up in Los Angeles, I'll be able to try one out!
Honoured to have had the privilege of shaking his hand when I walked across the @Carleton_U stage twice to receive my diplomas.
The @ecobee Smart WiFi thermostat is up and running. A/C gets turned on today! #condo moby.to/ghe4qa
Over 11 years later, it's time to say goodbye to the original @ecobee Smart WiFi EB-STAT-02 thermostat. It's served me well.
In 2 days (2024-07-31), it gets disconnected forever & becomes an offline thermostat that still supports local control, scheduling, etc.
Onto the next! – at Toronto, Ontario
The ridiculous oligopoly that is Canadian telecom: all the carriers have raised their smartwatch plans to +$15/month. My plan's only $40 so adding an LTE watch really doesn't seem worth it anymore. – at Mississauga, Ontario
Let's see how @lawandorderto stacks up! Opening shot of the CN Tower in the background:
Just passed 20,000 km in one of the @VinFastCanada VF8s that I'm testing.
Today's electric vehicles: updates, improvements, and new functionality thanks to over-the-air updates. – at Toronto, Ontario
Either penny pinching or bad design: using a 25V capacitor on a 24VDC power rail. Finally failed after 10+ years. Replaced by high quality yellow caps.
Dead washing machine revived. Beats spending $300+ for an entire control board. – at Toronto, Ontario
Happy Wednesday. I drove down to P5 to do some signal testing & discovered @YorkdaleStyle now has cellular coverage all the way down to P5.
As a telecom engineer, yay technology. As someone purposely trying to force No Signal & network searching, *shakes fists* – at Toronto, Ontario
Day 10 of being back to work & I'm sitting in the jury lounge, working remotely, waiting to be called. It's been 3+ hours since I arrived at the courthouse & 2+ hours since they started the morning briefing. Lunch isn't until 1pm.
The wheels of justice turn slowly.
Didn't get selected for the first screening group of 20. Will see how the rest of the day goes.
Glad I brought a 120V power bank as the lack of accessible outlets in the lounge is annoying.
Even worse: the lack of masking. At least 3 different people have been coughing. – at Toronto, Ontario
That's why one of the most difficult photography assignments at @humbercollege was to go out w/ only an 8GB (or smaller, relatively) memory card for the entire day.
Makes every press of that shutter an intentional one because you had to finish the assignment with limited shots.
Want a higher rate of "keepers"? Shoot with intent as a photographer. petapixel.com/2023/06/12/the…
Police: "Traffic enforcement is dangerous, monotonous, and boring. Do our jobs for us."
What a load of BS. There's so many easy areas of enforcement: illegal turns like Dufferin/Finch, HOV lanes on Don Mills, 427/Eg using turn lanes to go straight/skip queue, etc.
Dangerous stunt driving and street racing has worsened in the Greater Toronto Area, police say — and now law enforcement is asking for the public's help in reporting the issue. bit.ly/3OAjueB
Sold the Z7 this week & for the first time in decades, don't own a single camera.
Time to put a deposit down at @AdenCamera for the new @NikonCanada Z8.
Hands-on: Looking at Nikon's new Z8, it's obvious they want to sell a ton of them and win back some serious market share.
Based on how it performs, we think that is exactly what is going to happen.

Just when one didn't think these sites couldn't get any lazier in their content, they post completely erroneous garbage like this. (The original article was written in @DailyHive & reposted by BlogTO.)

Driving the DVP to pick up the Mrs from her mandatory in-office days is a reminder of how utterly wasteful & unproductive it is for all involved (most of her team is in other locations).
Traffic-aware cruise con for the win. 401 was clear but DVP was extra jammed today. Tolls!
#FAIL When Canadian companies & websites (and even worse, government agencies) use MM/DD/YY instead of DD/MM/YY.
Then don't mask inputs & let you submit before returning an error. i.e. allows >12 in MM.
YYYY/MM/DD. Zero confusion, ever.
