A lot of "everybody sucks" in the timeline right now. That's preposterous. There are some really good teams. NIL and unregulated free agency have created this iteration of college football. Free movement means parity and much less developmental patience. Coaches have to build cohesion with little time to do so. It's created a genuine Any Given Saturday platform. It's different and we can bitch about the "why" all day. But the games on Saturday are awesome. And I don't know if anyone knows who the best team in the country truly is.

What would a 24-team playoff mean for the SEC? And why suddenly is Commissioner Greg Sankey on board? I talked to Sankey extensively and he explained myriad key points. •The 9 game SEC schedule is a major factor. He said the Conference is killing it in TV ratings but loses CFP access due to the natural extra losses of adding the extra Conference matchup. •He noted the value and engagement of hope. The 12-team playoff can result in fan bases being deflated and losing hope. A larger playoff pool means teams and fans will have playoff potential for longer. •Expansion would mean the elimination of the SEC championship game, a lucrative boon to the Conference. Sankey is assured they will make that money up elsewhere. •Sankey also told me that all Power 4 conferences are in agreement to add a 10th quality game to the regular season. •As a reminder there’s still much to be settled here, and Sankey spoke that it’s important that the CFP Selection Process continue to improve, and remains focused on the need for adjustments as the playoff format expands from 12 to 24.
