Lakers grades through first 5 games (4-1)
Luka: A
Ziaire: A
Reaves: A-
Thybulle: A-
Laravia: A-
Kessler: B+
Mamu: B+
Vando: B+
Grimes: B-
Sexton: C+
Hardy: D-
Looney: F
Biggest role player standout has been Ziaire, with Thybulle not far behind. Laravia has quietly been great too.
Turnovers and DREB have been the notable complaints, but they’re 5-0 rn if not for Looney mins imo!
Meet the Lakers new addition Lawson Lovering
Has only played in 2 NBA games so far (25-26) but he looked good. He had an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double with the Grizzlies.
- Good passing big (2.7 APG in sr year of college)
- Solid shot blocker (4.6% blk rate in G League)
- Decent athleticism for size (can be a lob threat)
Literally can't be worse than Kevon Looney. Really hoping Redick gives him a shot after learning the playbook.

AD has been better at center for years now, people have just been fooled by his own agenda to play PF
Lakers grades through 3-0 start:
Reaves: A+
Kessler: A+
Thybulle: A+
Ziaire: A+
Luka: A-
Mamu: A-
Grimes: A-
Laravia: A-
Sexton: B
Looney: D-
Feels wrong to be giving nearly all A's, but they've been that good. My only complaints would be a few too many turnovers, some rebounding issues, along with Looney being a poor backup center.
Lakers have:
- 8 different guys shooting >37% from 3 (8 of their 10 rotation players)
- 7 averaging at least 1 SPG
- 8 with a positive +/- rating (only Looney/Sexton are a negative in the rotation)
Might be time for Redick to pull the plug on Looney and try out Vando instead
It'll be "small ball" but Vando and Mamu together should be more competent defensively than Looney out there. Mamu also mitigates the shooting issue with Vando.
