They were trying to cook me in the replies
If Kirk Cousins hits free agency, I'd be interested in the Vikings adding Sam Darnold as a bridge QB. He was Shanahan's priority FA last year and sets a good bar for a rookie QB to clear.

On the Daniel Jones steam... If you believe that the Vikings need a better system fit to finish out this season, who else is out there? Only so many teams are selling. Only so many QBs have familiarity in this offense. That's where we're at.

Apparently it takes a lot of time to learn Kevin O'Connell's offense. Would the Vikings trust someone who's never played in it to hit the ground running? This isn't necessarily an argument for or against, just sharing why his name is floating around.

Nolan Teasley is in such a bizarre position right now. The way he navigates the trade deadline will be fascinating.

It's interesting, that's all
In recent weeks, both the Patriots and Vikings reached out to the Chargers to see if they had any interest in trading QB Justin Herbert, per league sources. The answer was, very quickly, “a flat no.” Not only do the Chargers love Herbert, but they also would have had to take on a $63.5 million cap charge for the coming season at a time they have $32.3 million of cap space.

The Vikings aren't moving on from Kevin O'Connell until this offseason at the earliest. A QB upgrade won't be cheap. The tough reality...if they want to improve the offense for *this* team, they'll probably need to add pieces who help bridge the gap between O'Connell and Murray.

Kyler Murray is playing on a one year contract for the veteran minimum. His limitations as a player are priced in. It's Kevin O'Connell's responsibility to make the offense work for his skill set. If he's incapable, Minnesota's last chance is adding offensive reinforcements.

I don't think that giving Kevin O'Connell so much influence in the front office was a responsible decision.

They were slaughtered in the trenches. That was brutal.

Everyone knows that the OL has a significant role in running back success, but overhauling an iOL during the season isn't very realistic. Adding a running back is probably Minnesota's best bet to improve the run game *this* season.

Whether it's a star bellcow or another steady chain-mover to keep Jones/Mason fresh, adding to the RB room should be a priority. I think they owe it to the defense.

A different, positive spin s that the Wolves have a successful case study with an in-season arthroscopic knee surgery to a star player... Karl-Anthony Towns had one done on March 12, 2024, and was *incredible* on their playoff run that year. Rehab kept him in phenomenal shape and he hit the ground running in a major way coming back from that.

It's so refreshing that every player on the Timberwolves has a defined role and seems to be filling it enthusiastically.

Tim Connelly deserves a lot of apologies (again).

Obviously the offense needs to be better, but I hate how people talk about the defense like it’s just something they are lucky to have and not part of the team.
Vikings have such a luxury. Can stink it up all day, but that defense always keeps them in striking distance. Score 1 TD and just like that, you good!

This is only true when the offense can *at least* chew up clock and hang onto the ball. A luxury they did not have last season.

I don't like your tone.
Disagree! How many stars does Brian Flores have in Minnesota right now? He has the No. 1 defense by a mile and they might not have a single All-Pro defender on that side of the ball.

Brian Flores is a genius who can identify/utilize talent in a way that most coaches can't, but I don't think it's fair to the players to frame them as a collection of bums. They have a lot of talent!!

Having the league's best defense is awesome and the offense is clearly settling into a balanced rhythm. Enough whining about the weird start. This is a really good Vikings team.

The gap between the Vikings defense at #1 and Seahawks defense at #2 is the same as the gap between #2 and the Bengals defense at #14

Welcome back 2016 Vikings
Donovan Jackson is likely out for the season with a meniscus tear, per KOC. Brutal blow for the Vikings. Christian Darrisaw is in the concussion protocol.
