Tens of thousands of UK manufacturing jobs depend on #jaguar getting this right, and all @guardian can do is publish a snidey *review* by one of its "I get paid to type out my random brainfarts" columnists who has never been near the actual car.🙄😡 theguardian.com/business/202…
Passing through St Peter's Square earlier, it struck me it's a very Manchester thing there's space not just for people to protest against very unpleasant foreign regimes, but also for people to say the previous very unpleasant regime was in fact splendid, and bring back his son.
Yes @gmpolice have got massively better at actual policing under current Chief (notwithstanding my run-in with his predecessor as a cllr) but I can't see why bees & climate action should be taking up any neighbourhood policing time at all given other pressing issues. @KateGreenSU
Millions of people: "There's a housing affordability crisis and even people with decent jobs can't afford to get on the housing ladder"
@Ed_Miliband: "I already have a house with 2 kitchens & am making all new homes at least £10k less affordable from 2028"

Meanwhile the actual Reform campaign launch venue in Denton has taken to Facebook to claim that Farage and his new familiar just happened to pop in when the place was full of TV cameras and journos, set up for some other reason. #Gorton #Denton #GortonAndDenton #VoteLabour
Anyone know which "lefties" have so little local knowledge about #GortonAndDenton they are asking people on Reddit to suggest a venue for a campaign launch this weekend? Is this you George?🤠 #Gorton #Denton #Byelection #VoteLabour

@C20Society Hi - just spotted this and wondering if it's on your radar? When I saw the pic, I thought it looked like FX Velarde, and it is, although built after his death: bbc.com/news/articles/c9vjx0…
A bit surprising how little the Shrewsbury Diocese seems to think of it when across the Mersey Liverpool has St Monica, Bootle, Velarde's Grade 1 Listed masterpiece. And St. Matthew's, Clubmoor, where my parents got married!

Really couldn't fault my visit to @MFTnhs Fracture Clinic at MRI this morning. Booked in, sent for X-Ray and back to see consultant within 20 minutes. Still really impressed with how A&E there works, and how effective the triage is.
Possibly the best thing I've seen in ages. Good design generally doesn't cost more than bad design; just need to sort out the trains now...
🕐 We're celebrating a new timepiece for the railway, 200 years after the first passenger service ran in Britain!
The London timepiece by Design Bridge and Partners works as a physical and digital #timepiece.

Bridge carrying Derby Street #Ormskirk over railway has been in place since c.1849 when the railway got here from Liverpool. I'm really hoping no taxpayers' money was involved in putting up these signs just to explain to us that it's a railway bridge on Derby St.🙄 @Westlancsbc – at Ormskirk, England

A vigil will be held at 3pm today, (3rd October), at the junction of Middleton Road and Crumpsall Lane (M8 5DS).
This will be a space for reflection, support and collective strength in the face of hate.
Unsolicited text just now from @nhsUHLG asking how my visit to A&E yesterday was. Since you ask... UTC next door run by @Mersey_Care superb; just goes entirely downhill as soon as you get sent across to the Royal where you immediately stop being a person again. @jamessumnerNHS – at Ormskirk, England
Rather careless paid content on @ChronicleLive bigging up @NestleUKI as benevolent employer of whole families. They closed their #Newcastle factory in 2023 making 475 people redundant. @reachsolutions demonstrating sure touch at understanding the audience: chroniclelive.co.uk/news/nor…
While flags currently in news, just reminded by comment @MENnewsdesk that the St George's Cross always flew from Manchester Town Hall (along with Union Flag at other end) before the restoration work started; no doubt will again.
