Like many energy nerds, I’ve followed @JigarShahDC's clean energy, US policy and investment commentary for years. He speaks his mind and tackles tough topics. So it was great to sit down with him at the @RenewablesAssoc #ElectricityTransformationCanada conference in Toronto this week to talk #renewables, #cleanenergy, #AI, #EV and the Canadian context. The conversation is on the #ARCEnergyIdeas podcast next week. Stay tuned!

This week on #ARCEnergyIdeas, @PTertzakian and I cover the long list of news around oil markets, including the high cost of diesel, which is a regular topic of conversation, now that it is costing $C 260 dollars to fill a diesel pickup truck!
This week on the podcast, we cover oil markets – starting with the growing supply uncertainty in the Middle East, then moving to the situation with high cost diesel and wider discounts for Canadian oil podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas…

Today I’m attending the @RenewablesAssoc CanREA #EnergyTransformationCanada conference! There’s a great opportunity to grow #renewable energy in Canada. The trade show is big, and it’s exciting to see so many companies ready to meet Canada’s growing electricity demand

This week on the #ARCEnergyIdeaspodcast, guest @GitaneDeSilva (former CER CEO) explains how major projects are set to move faster in Canada. With C-5 and, draft Bill C-39 that focuses on “technical, economic and practical feasibility," a big change in focus from the C-69 review that, at times, seemed to prioritize a long list of issues over economics. I will be joining @RenewablesAssoc (CanREA)'s Electricity Transformation Canada on October 19 - 21 in Toronto. Canada’s electricity system is poised for BIG growth. It’s an exciting time, but funding this growth will require BIG capital. I’m talking to @RBC's Canada Head and Managing Director of Power, Utilities and Infrastructure, Rob Nicholson, to get his view on financing the build-out. Register - Electricity Transformation Canada

The West Coast oil pipeline’s national interest designation was expected. Still, hearing Prime Minister @MarkJCarney speak proudly about the #oilsands in his speech mattered to me, especially when you contrast it with the previous federal government's approach, which treated it more like something to apologize for. As an Albertan, my father worked on the oil sands projects many times in his career, including when construction jobs were scarce in the 1980s and early 1990s. In my own career, I saw the economic power of oil sands investment again during the last oil sands investment wave, which began in the mid-2000s. After a decade of discouraging energy investment, Canada is taking steps to attract capital and create prosperity. @ABDanielleSmith #cndpoli #abpoli

Batteries power EVs & back up renewables, while new chemistries promise even greater utility & lower cost. Batteries also have an important geopolitical angle, with China producing about 80% of all batteries today - our guest @BobGalyen covers it all on this week's #ARCEnergyIdeas podcast The conversation was recorded at the @EnergyDisruptor UNITE conference; the event was world-class again this year, and it was great to be part of it! Thank you, GraemeEdge, Michelle Edge & @HollyRansom for bringing excellent speakers to #YYC
What’s next for batteries? Former CATL CTO @BobGalyen joins the #ARCEnergyIdeas podcast, recorded at the @EnergyDisruptor UNITE conference in Calgary. Watch on YouTube, but also on Apple, Spotify and other apps youtube.com/watch?v=6pxrkSIh…

Excellent news that @lngcanada has made the final investment decision! “ Phase 2 will double LNG Canada’s capacity from 14 to 28 million tonnes a year, putting LNG Canada on a trajectory to become one of the largest LNG facilities in the world and helping move Canada toward becoming one of the world’s top five LNG exporting nations,” said Chris Cooper, President and CEO, LNG Canada. lngcanada.ca/news/lng-canada…

I recently attended a conference on Alberta data centers, and there was a lot of excitement about the opportunity, but protesters opposed the developments just outside the conference. This week, we tackle "the opportunity and the opposition" with guests Deirdre Sheehan and Marcus Rocque on #ARCEnergyIdeas
Will data centres raise power bills? What about water use? Watch a clip from #ARCEnergyIdeas podcast on Alberta’s data centre opportunities & concerns. @PTertzakian @JackieForrest Marcus Rocque, Deirdre Sheehan from @Osler_Law Watch on YouTube: lnkd.in/gMNYjMrB

We just announced Canada’s new Productivity Mega Deduction. This cuts Canada’s marginal effective tax rate from 13% to 6.4% on new business investment — the lowest of any major economy in the world. Canada is building big — and becoming the best place in the world to build. More here: pm.gc.ca/en/news/news-releas…
