When you build your brand on being smarter than others as opposed to being driven by genuine intellectual pursuit, that’s how you’ll spend your days putting every possible thing down to look good

The “fight against anti-intellectualism” on this app is just a bunch of word salad chefs trying to enforce authoritarianism while forgetting the very principles of intellectualism: nuance, critical analysis, context, and individualism.

being an intellectual also includes being kind(emotional intelligence). you’ll do more harm than good when you’re condescending and cruel to individuals.

This is why I love literature. There are so many ways to look at things without one interpretation necessarily invalidating the others. In fact, a good literature teacher will tell you that a text can have multiple valid interpretations. The goal isn’t always to arrive at one definitive answer, but to explore different perspectives and interrogate them.

We can argue it’s satirical, allegorical, and many more in favor or against.
But have we considered the fact that, it was heralded as the greatest love story for the longest time even though it had other elements, and it became a form of description for love, even for the layman?

this romeo and juliet thing is such a non issue like what? i feel like you guys are obsessed with proving that you’re smarter than everyone else and it ends up making you look dumb in the process
The whole reason Romeo and Juliet is a classic has been because of how complex of a story it is and people have debated it forever. It’s why we use it for analytical writing. Maybe you think it’s sweet some kids would die for their love, maybe you think they dont knw what love is

The intellectual superiority and tendency to punch down actually reveal the limitations of intelligence itself.
Academic success is only one measure of intelligence; emotional intelligence, empathy, humility, self-awareness & the ability to engage with others

Imagine attacking someone for being willfully ignorant but this is your defense. Rule for me and not for thee thinker, we aren’t the fools you think we are. Hypocrites
