With no degree I’ve worked at senior+ levels at Microsoft, Twitter, Expedia, Peloton, and now Heroku Salesforce. If you’re debating if you can be in tech, the short answer is YES. I used to be an office assistant. Are you willing to put the work in? Let’s get it 2024.

Now is the best time to be an entrepreneur. You plus a team of agents can do so much. People that think it’s hype aren’t investing in it. Because of they were, they would know.

What happens when the technical bar isn’t as important as it used to be?

The more AI aggressively augments technical skills the more people skills will matter. The way you treat people has always mattered—but even more so now.

In a teammate, which is more important, work ethic or humility?

Devote time to exploring new tools and methods. So much to learn—but so rewarding when you see the benefits.

Unpopular opinion—almost all engineering work will be about building and supporting AI agents—who in turn do everything else.

I feel a little offended there is more interest in AI engineering than my teams! My teams—Agent Platform is software engineering to build platforms for AI, then ML Eng and ML Ops, which focuses on data pipelines and model training. All AI related work folks!

Man, this was right before I really started diving into AI. What a difference I feel today. 🚀
After so many years in the game, trying to remember why I started, and get back to that feeling.

I’m know there is a lot of hate about AI, but if you’re using it every day, I don’t see how you can’t be hyped about it. I’ve never felt more productive in my life.

Great article and take on how AI might shape us.
With all of the AI doomerism discussion, I thought I'd add my take. tl;dr I think of it more like a whimper. A frog-boil kind of situation.
