It was like watching a hungry seagull try to lecture on metaphysics.
Despite her obvious lack of ability, Haigh still trotted out stock insults aimed at her opposite number. At one point she suggested that Alex Burghart shouldn't read out his questions, before reading out her answers (and not answering his questions).
In fact, I got the sense that Burghart was being gentlemanly in his reticence to go in for the kill: had Labour put up an open can of sardines in the bottom of a barrel, it would have been a less obvious target than Haigh. But if anything, his stoic demeanour seemed to rile her further.
Burghart's questions were mostly about benefits. He highlighted the fact that the bill was higher now than it had been even during Covid.
Again and again Haigh β who yelled like an unlikeable landlady β insisted that the bill was coming down without explaining in any way how it would do so.

Elon Musk sitting in the garage with the Tesla on for hours wondering why nothing's happening
That's great, start with an antique pipe,
Rotting in the ground, gonna wipe
Out the whole flow, wouldnβt have been able to,
Shut it down, turn it round, started in a panic crew.
Opened in a rush, sudden slash, big clash,
Vandals going wild, running off with the stash
It's the...
Itβs so much worse than I imagined. This is his closing message to the voters.

βBecause the pipes are very old and in bad shape, but we wouldn't have been able to do that. So we closed it, and we started to do that. We had β we opened it quickly, and there was great vandalism with slashing. We have pictures of it. We have photographs of it. In fact, I must say, Jesse Waters of Fox did a whole long piece on it. And it was sad to watch because the vandals really went to town. A lot of people tried to protect the vandals. But we got it done. We opened it just now with the pipes. The pipes now are totally renovated. They're brand-new pipes put in. And the pipes being very important in terms of the algae and other things. And it's a complete job, and we're very proud of it.β

Funny that it sounds like Labour are unwilling to change the part of the immigration policy that changes the rules after people have arrived; perhaps this is because it mirrors what they did to graduates after they changed the rules on tuition fee repayments...

We are literally doomed
American High School English Teacher reads real responses from her studentβs assignment after reading The Great Gatsby
We have a serious education issue in America and if we donβt address it, we have a horrible future ahead of us
These kind of responses are to be expected because 12th grade reading results in 2024 in America showed that reading levels right now the lowest theyβve ever been since the assessment began in 1992
