The Catholic Church does not need to "catch up with the times"
The times need to catch up with the Catholic Church
Catholics ask Mary (and other saints) to pray for them because those who are united with Christ in heaven remain members of his Body and can intercede. This is not worship of Mary but a request for prayer, like asking a living Christian to pray for you.
Mary is the New Eve.
Yes. Justin Martyr and Irenaeus (2nd century) portrayed Mary as the New Eve whose obedience reversed Eve’s disobedience and aided salvation. By the mid-3rd century the prayer Sub Tuum Praesidium already invoked her as Mother of God for protection. Later Fathers such as Athanasius and Ephrem praised her highly while insisting this honor is distinct from the worship due to God alone.
Questions about Mary:
Is Mary full of grace? (Luke 1:28)
Is the Lord with Mary? (Luke 1:28)
Did Mary find favor with God? (Luke 1:30)
Is Mary blessed among women? (Luke 1:42)
Does Mary’s soul magnify the Lord? (Luke 1:46)
Do all generations call Mary blessed? (Luke 1:48)
I remember being a kid, maybe ten or twelve, sitting in my Mennonite church and wondering about this.
The Catholic Church’s position on birth control, divorce, marriage, family, abortion, suicide, LGBT issues, etc. is the same today as always. Other Christian organizations change their positions because they lack a comprehensive and authoritative theological backing.

Chris Pratt went beneath St. Peter’s Basilica while filming a new Vatican documentary.
But it’s what he said afterward that has protestants in an uproar!
Listen carefully. ✝️
Jesus advised us to choose the narrow way.
Many preachers have profited by claiming their particular narrow way is the right one. That’s a lie.
The apostles, together with the bishops, priests, and deacons they ordained, constituted the Church’s leadership from the beginning.
The narrow way isn’t a separate church, it’s the hard path within the Church Christ founded.
How did a loose group of “early Christians” settle on the Bible canon so decisively, among so many writings available? Was there a meeting, maybe? Under whose authority?
Many of the most vocal anti-Catholics on this app seem to have a problem with Jesus’ mom. I’m not gonna lie, that’s a really weird position to take.
If the writers of the New Testament thought they were writing The Complete Guide to Christianity, they would have said so.
When a man says he “follows the Bible” and avoids “man-made traditions”, he is invoking the man-made tradition that says everything must be in the Bible. That tradition is called Sola Scriptura and was literally man-made in the 16th century.
