Today, Pioneer Labs is announcing our first step towards terraforming Mars. 🚀🌼
With equipment that fits in just a single rocket launch, we can convert Martian dirt, water, and air into enough building materials to construct a small city on Mars.
To do it, we made the first microbe for Mars. We found the best microbe on Earth and used evolution to teach it how to source all of its nutrients directly from Martian materials.
The first astronauts will be greeted with safe shelter already filled with water, oxygen, and rocket fuel for the return journey.
This is the first step toward using biology to make Mars a friendly place for life. It lets us live off the land and helps us build the next great frontier.
It's the first of five organisms we need to green Mars ⬇️

Mars from the Hope probe (EMM/Emirates Mars Mission)~1 year ago (September 2025)
The first image shows giant volcanoes with a dust storm near Noctis Labyrinthus, and the second shows foggy Hellas Planitia with seasonal CO2/water frost

ALT Martian crescent from the EXI camera on board the EMM probe. Color composite of three images taken through RGB filters on September 9, 2025 at ~21:17 UTC. The image shows giant Martian volcanoes with a prominent dust storm near the valleys and canyons of Noctis Labyrinthus.

ALT Mars from the EXI camera on board the EMM probe. Color composite of three images taken through RGB filters on September 25, 2025 at ~14:43 UTC. The image shows most of the Martian disk with Hellas Planitia, partially covered by seasonal frost, at the bottom, darker Terra Sabaea in the middle with prominent Huygens crater near the center of the image, brighter Arabia Terra region above, and similarly bright Isidis Planitia on the right.

We’re in orbit! And just made European history: This is the first time a privately developed rocket reached orbit from continental Europe; and a testament to the dedication, expertise, and teamwork of everyone involved.
SpaceX engineers spent several days inspecting Ship 40 in the waters off Christmas Island. They collected heatshield samples and gained vital insight into how the vehicle handled reentry with improvements now planned on future vehicles

I finally have all 1.2 million raw image files from my latest mission to ISS! Here is a sample of one of my favorite Milky Way photos, taken from the Cupola with Nikon Z9, Arri Zeiss 15mm lens, T1.8 with custom sidereal drive that cancelled out star motion relative to our orbit.
View of Starship in space from a Starlink V3 satellite on Flight 13.
This composite is made of imagery from four separate cameras on a single satellite. Six of the satellites were equipped with cameras to scan Starship’s heat shield and transmit imagery down to operators to continue testing methods of analyzing Starship’s heat shield readiness for return to launch site on future missions

Today is Space Exploration Day.
Remember when people said this was impossible? Never bet against human engineering.
Now targeting to launch Starship’s thirteenth flight test as early as Thursday, July 23 → spacex.com/launches/starship…
