The pareto frontier of actually being useful locally 😲
We are releasing our first model, Flint, a best-in-class local OSS coding model that runs at 150+ tokens/s on an @nvidia DGX Spark and 125+ tokens/s on a MacBook Pro M4—developed from scratch in less than four months with help from @Recursive_SI's autoresearch system.

Our AI tool Extract is helping councils across England make informed planning decisions faster. That means we can build more homes.
And now, the brilliant civil service team has won an award!
Congrats to team @i_dot_ai on their win at the @CTO_ICT Digital Excellence Awards!
🏆 Extract has won the Digital Applications & Innovation Award at the CTO Digital Excellence Awards 2026!
Extract uses AI to turn councils' paper planning docs into map-ready digital records in ~2 mins, not 2 hours, with officers reviewing every step.

There's probably a lesson for UK gov on how you brand a digital id project here...
SECRETARY RUBIO on AMERICA.GOV PASSPORTS: No printing forms, no drugstore hostage photo, no appointment, no line, no middleman that you're paying to do something that should be available to you.
My toddler is a stochastic parrot. Systems that can solve millennium problems, or hack governments in swarms through a sandbox keyhole, are not. The term is cute, compelling, is actively disinformation + leaves non-technical policy makers with complete misunderstanding

Excited to share that our paper, CivBench: A Long-Horizon Benchmark for Tool-Mediated Agents in Civilization VI, has been accepted to NeurIPS 2026!

So relieved right now that I didn’t get my degree in a mickey mouse subject like mathematics.
We’re working with an independent advisory group of mathematicians to help OpenAI responsibly share advances in AI and mathematics.
The group will advise on how we assess and communicate new mathematical results, uphold academic and professional standards, and build tools that support mathematical research and learning.
Through this work, we want mathematicians to be at the center of shaping how AI supports mathematical understanding and how its benefits reach the wider community.

The UK’s most powerful government-built AI supercomputer, Isambard-AI, cost £225m
The Botley Road bridge cost roughly the same
Apparently our frontier AI capacity and one bridge are comparable national investments

It's good that MPs want to discuss long tail risks, and engage with what is certainly a technology that presents both a huge opportunity and challenge for Britain.
But it is wholly irresponsible to say on the one hand 'we think this is really important' and on the other block the UK's ability to build AI capabilities here and support British AI companies.
In the event that neither our allies nor foes listen to the proposed international agreement and that in fact a 'kill switch' is impossible, every single one of these MPs should be fighting to strengthen Britain's hand in this critical technology by supporting local datacenters, so we're not exporting our data abroad, reforming regulations so that AI models like cyber defenses can be trained here, so we're not entirely reliant on foreign technology and supporting British AI companies, so we see the economic benefits here too.
We're doing our small bit at SovAI, but this should be a national level debate, and I hope this MP champions the UK scaling those ambitions just as passionately.

Across the board aesthetes and insiders have a preference for weird shit that normal people don’t like.
What’s unusual about architecture is that ripoffs of Jeanne Dielman and Trout Mask Replica don’t dominate actual production of film and music.

“Anthropic is a bubble inside a bubble (tech culture) inside a bubble (San Francisco). The people I met were more likely to think about Dyson spheres than any near-term practical applications of AI to the betterment of ordinary human life. They sometimes seemed unable to articulate any positive case for building increasingly powerful AIs beyond what you might call the Manhattan Project argument: If we don’t build the atomic bomb, Hitler will—and that would be even worse. I found that weird.”

So Newspeak House has gone a bit viral! I'm sorry to say it's not actually a deep state sponsored disinformation campaign: it's an awesome, transformative community and educational space in London, and the single best place to meet exceptional people who care about tech and society.
It hosts an incredible plethora of communities and events... Check out the full calendar below! And if none of those tickle your fancy, come to Ration Club: an open community dinner, every Wednesday, to chill, chat, and meet other cool folks like you.

But if you're a technologist who deeply cares about improving society through technology, you can even study *at* Newspeak House! Spend a year working on something you're truly passionate about, with support from an incredible cohort of peers and the Newspeak House community.

Finally, at the risk of pointing out the bleeding bloody obvious, it is not "leftist": if you care about tech and community, and aren't a dick about it, you'll always be welcome at @nwspk, hence why it hosts a hugely broad array of communities and voices, including such Marxist firebrands as @txp_io , @lfg_uk, and, you know, me, who first turned up as an actual police officer for a hackathon with @PoliceRewired.
So yes, come to Newspeak House! Let's hack democracy together. There's nowhere quite like it.
