Prior to last night’s election, only 3 had EVER been elected governor in US history. wapo.st/4iyoTjs
As the nation’s only Black governor heading into last night’s election, @iamwesmoore spoke to me about this milestone:
“It was never lost on me that I’m the only Black governor in this country, and that’s a title that I never wanted.”
Democrats are projected to win the majority in the Senate. They needed a net gain of 4 seats and so far have managed to flip seats in North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Iowa and Kansas.
David Crowley’s win in Wisconsin brings the total number of Black candidates elected to serve as governor tonight to 4.
Three Black governors have been elected to serve at the same time for the first time in U.S. history with the wins of Wes Moore, Byron Donalds and Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Lance Bottoms will also be the first Black female governor.

To many Democrats, Senator @ossoff looks like a future president. I asked more than two dozen people close to him whether the man on stage matches the man off it.
The gap was not authenticity. On camera and off, they described the same person: less politician, more investigator.
