Conventional wisdom would have suggested that for Khamzat to gas, he would have to have already dominated several rounds. This happened way earlier and easier than anyone would have guessed. #UFC328

It feels like every ten years or so, someone in MMA convinces themselves that big names from the past are the cure to everyone's problems. Scott Coker tried this a decade ago and interest in Bellator cratered after he ran out of old names.
"If I'm Dana White, the moment this news came out this morning, I'm on the phone with Conor McGregor. I am on the phone with Jon Jones. I cannot afford for my White House card not to be the biggest event of the year. If they were banking on the idea of Ilia Topuria versus Justin Gaethje being the headliner, that would be the moment I would have hopped on the phone and called one of those boys because you have to match this." - @NewYorkRic

The idea that Sean O’Malley’s “outside the Octagon persona” outshines his fighting ability is wild, considering he’s about as dull as it gets outside the cage and has never said anything interesting. On the flip side, he’s about as exciting as it gets in the cage. #UFC324

It’s always funny to see this criticism, because UFC posters promote the main event fighters heavily (and the knock against them ironically is that they never do this) and with this, I’m looking at two fists and have to zoom in and squint to identify anyone. But THIS is good.

Is this not insulting to the current champions or the Americans who are title contenders?
My 2 cents. UFC has only one US champ because top US athletes pursue opportunities where athletes can get a fair % of the revenue.

Unfortunately, Aaron Pico is a bit of a glass cannon. He can stop a guy or get stopped at any moment of the fight. I don’t think he can take damage. Watching his career has been kind of a rough watch just because of how sad it is. #UFC319

Reaction to this news should help you identify all the hacks who need to spin everything as negatively as possible for engagement. Seriously, some of the takes I’ve seen are incredibly sad. Some people are truly miserable.
BREAKING: Dana White and UFC announce Paramount and CBS are new home of UFC in 2026 and will have "access to all UFC content WITHOUT a pay-per-view model"

Merab’s greatest attribute is probably convincing people that he’s this uber dominant fighter, despite winning his last two fights 48-47 on the majority of the scorecards rendered. #UFC316

I spoke the DJ for the first time in years last summer, and the first thing I did was bollock him for refusing to show his real personality and humor while he was UFC Champ and I ran UFC PR. I reminded him I literally begged him to several times. He laughed at me and was all "Yeah, but now I am chasing that YouTube money!"
The ufc: “Demetrious Johnson isn’t a star he can’t promote himself so we’re not going to do it AND trade him for Ben Askren” Demetrious Johnson:

Isn’t it also hypocritical that people attacked Dana for this and now want him to do this to Jon Jones?
Look at the hypocrisy of Dana White when talking about GSP possibly “taking a break” and not facing Hendricks “… you owe to the fans, you owe it to the belt, you owe it to this company, and you owe it to Johnny Hendricks” Where is this energy for Jon Jones?

I think Jimmy Smith nailed the dynamic with MMA promotions when he said it was over for everyone else when the UFC went to Fox and became a mainstream product. There is no competing with that. Stann is also right about focusing on being a feeder league. Seems more interesting.
Brian Stann is asked about the state of MMA. #HelwaniShow

I assume he just found out what his pay is going to be as a non-champion.

UFC was just a top rated program on cable last Saturday and did a $2M gate. A random Fight Night. They’re probably getting $1B annually on their next deal. But we get all these show segments on their business that are totally based on vibes.
"If you said to me, name me 6 UFC superstars... I couldn't do it. The problem is with UFC, I feel like they always want the brand to be bigger than that of the fighter." Eddie Hearn on the current state of UFC.

It’s pretty easy to find videos like this before 2022. MMA fans have always just been miserable.
We didn’t realize these were the golden years ☠️

Man, Sean Brady’s disdain for Leon Edwards is something to behold. He was telling his wife afterwards that he was surprised how much Leon sucked on the ground. World class hating. #UFCMexico

I wonder where this came from, because if you’re the UFC, the last thing you’d want is to tell a reporter that you’re desperate for a deal with one particular platform. Sounds like this would come from ESPN, doesn’t it?
The UFC will reportedly do “everything in their power” to get a Netflix deal once their contract with ESPN expires at the end of the year 😳 UFC is allegedly having issues with ESPN’s technology, while ESPN isn’t happy with PPV numbers being “way down” (via NY Post)

The problem is objectively the handling of MLB’s media rights. In the NFL and NBA, the league makes a gigantic sum and splits it up. A cap wouldn’t solve the revenue inequity in baseball. Also, go Dodgers.
“What the Dodgers are doing is within the constraints of the collective bargaining agreement. … But it’s really the feeling of not being able to compete that is harming these teams, and harming fan bases more than anything.” @JeffPassan on the Dodgers' $392M payroll💰

It’s amazing how you can have a fight with closed scoring where a guy runs away in the final round, and that means we should never have open scoring. Closed scoring didn’t prevent that outcome either, so how does that make any sense? #UFCVegas102

BJ Penn lost at every stage of his career. Regardless of when you thought his prime was, he lost. Him being thought of as unbeatable at any stage was purely on what would potentially happen if he took things seriously.
"Everybody's like, 'Who's the best lightweight of all time?' I'm like, [BJ Penn]. To me, it's not even close. People don't know about the game back then, so it's recency bias. BJ, in his prime, during that window, was unbeatable. He was busting those guys up, leaving them mercilessly in a pool of their own blood. It's not even close to him not being the best lightweight of all time." Din Thomas weighs in on the lightweight GOAT debate.
