I've participated in several traditional film festivals as either a judge or filmmaker.
But I have never submitted anything to an AI film festival or contest.
Lumara inspired me to change that.
So, I asked @bot to find every AI video contest happening between now and the end of November.
He curated them and only listed the ones "worth my time" 😁
Closing this week:
✅SLOPTOBERFEST, $50.9K+ paid in USDC, due Oct 29 at 10:59 PM CT. Everything has to be made and edited inside Slopcannon, which you already use.
✅PixLight 2026, $300K, due Oct 31 at 6:59 PM CT. It wants a 3–20 min series pilot, with a comedy lane, built in PixVerse.
✅Wandura Drama Challenge, $10K, due Oct 31. Episode 1 of a vertical AI series, made entirely in Wandura.
✅OpenArt After Dark, $20K, due Nov 2 at 1:59 AM CT. Has a $1.5K award for "funniest/most chaotic" Halloween video.
✅ElevenLabs "World's Catchiest Ad", $100K, due Nov 2 at 1:59 AM CT. A 15–45 sec ad for a made-up brand with an original jingle made in ElevenLabs.
✅Picsart × Seedance Nightmare Challenge, $25K. The page says Nov 4, but Picsart's own post points to about Nov 1, so plan for Nov 1.
✅Picsart × Kling 4.0 Microdrama, $10K each to 5 winners, due Nov 5. Kling clips made elsewhere are allowed.
Bigger ones later on:
✅AI Film Award 2027, $1M grand prize, due Nov 20. A 5–7 min film that's at least 70% Seedance, and one theme is "Truth, Fake News & Misinformation," a natural fit for satire.
✅Flick AI Film Festival, $25K+, due Dec 15. Has a $5K Best Animation award, accepts any tools, and takes films you've already released.
✅Cascade Greenlight, $100K in cash and credits, due Dec 15. A 1–5 min series pitch made in Cascade, and the winner gets greenlit for production.
AKOOL AI Film Challenge, $500K, due Dec 20 (it moved from Nov 20).
✅Comedy and animation are welcome, and every qualified entry gets $100.
✅Chroma Awards Season 2, $450K+, due Jan 7. Any tools, with Comedy & Mockumentary and Animation categories, plus a $2,250 MiniMax bonus for H3 work tagged #MiniMaxH3.

Your goal should be to make enough money with AI that you can afford to pay for it when they 10x the price.
One good client can pay for your entire AI token use for a year.
We are in the golden age of subsidized AI and I don't know how long it will last.
Doesn't this assume there hasn't been a behavior shift on both sides?
I've worked on several GOTV campaigns since 2024, and Republicans have been pushing for people to vote early and by mail.
Democrats on the other hand may have shifted toward Election Day.
We will find out soon.

NEW Pennsylvania Returned Ballots
🟦 629,099
🟥 243,338
Republicans are only 9,902 returned ballots away from beating our 2022 numbers (253,240).
I can tell you objectively that we are going into Election Day in a better position than 4 years ago.
RETURN YOUR BALLOTS!

I set up a Creative Guantlet in Claude.
I have outsourced a lot of my creative directing.
Claude deploys critic agents that review everything he is working on and compares it to samples of excellent work.
For music: song structure, lyrics, hooks
For images: composition, lighting, consistency
On and on. And its fire.
Many people in AI trying to replicate Hollywood.
That's fine. But that's not where we are going.
We have almost zero constraints on what we can create.
We are going beyond cinema.

Slop has always existed.
Slop is a genre.
Not all Slop is AI. Not all AI is Slop.
AI has elevated Slop to an artform and democratized it.
Sincerely,
A Sloptimist
"Slop" is work that is low effort and low intent. I'm pro-AI, and anti-slop.
By low intent I mean the ratio of creative decisions being made by you vs by the AI. If the scale tips too far towards the AI, it's not your vision anymore.
But there is so much nuance to using these tools in 2026. You can get very involved, give detailed notes and feedback, make minor changes, and iterate just like you would giving feedback to a human collaborator.
This makes you a director, and an artist.

THE PUMPKIN MAN: a folk-horror ballad, sung by a scarecrow in broad daylight. 🎃
Made entirely in Slopcannon for #Sloptoberfest
LYRICS:
"The Pumpkin Man" (original song)
Verse 1
Come in, come in, young traveler,
the gate is never barred;
they'll wash your feet in buttermilk
and measure you by the yard.
Chorus
Hollow the head and fill the man,
root him deep where the furrow ran;
sun on the field and seed in hand,
God keep the Pumpkin Man.
Verse 2
I came here with a fiddle case
one summer, walking home;
a girl in white took hold my hand
and kissed me like her own.
Verse 3
They stitched for me a linen shirt
and filled the sleeves with hay;
they took my eyes to light the lamps
on the longest harvest day.
Chorus (a girl alone, a cappella, then the full band returns)
Hollow the head and fill the man,
root him deep where the furrow ran;
sun on the field and seed in hand,
God keep the Pumpkin Man.
Verse 4
Now look you down at your two hands,
the straw is coming through;
the pole is cut, the hole is dug,
and the field has chosen you.
Verse 5
The field must have a Pumpkin Man,
but it need not be me;
I sang you up the barley road,
your coat's still warm from thee.
Come in, come in, young traveler,
the gate is never barred;
and I'll be walking home.

I've been sleeping on Facebook, but if I focused on posting AI political content for boomers (rage bait is bonus points) I could be a multimillionaire in 2028.
The pitch deck is dead, and AI killed it.
Agencies who win in 2027 will be pitching finished work before they've even closed the deal.
Let me tell you a story...
When I am not making AI videos to amuse myself and my friends on @X, I spend my days working as a full-time creative professional.
One of those roles is as the Chief Creative Officer at a $10 million per year agency. I have 5 people on my creative team.
I also run two of my own companies, but that is not important right now...
Anyway, I noticed something a few months ago.
A sales rep had a prospect that wanted a 45 second animated ad. They gave us no real creative direction.
Literally just a meme, and the link to their website.
He wanted to know what we could do, how fast we could turn it around, and at what price. We needed to pitch the client the following day to land the business.
I took the URL, the meme, and the notes from my call with the sales rep and put it into Claude. I added some of my own magic sauce, skills and context files.
In about 90 minutes I had a first pass on the video ad. And it was REALLY good.
But now a dilemma: Should we show this nearly finished ad to the client in the pitch meeting?
What would their reaction be to seeing something that was already done?
Would they value the work?
How much do we charge for something that used to take weeks to produce that now takes a couple of hours?
The sales rep told me he wanted to show the prospect the ad on the call.
I had my reservations, but agreed.
The client LOVED it. They had a handful of notes, and needed the finished ad in about three days.
We charged them $7,500 and they didn't blink.
All in, I spent about 15 hours from start to finish.
Looking back, I likely under charged them. They would have paid $10,000.
They never saw a pitch deck. They saw their own work brought to life and signed the deal.
Since then, we have landed more work this exact same way. I will be pitching a client on a six-figure video retainer today without a pitch deck.
We will be showing them 5 samples of creative I produced yesterday for them.
This is the new normal. And your competitors are doing this.
Are you using AI to deliver client work? And how are you pricing it?
Remember this: CLIENTS PAY FOR OUTCOMES. They rarely care how you produce the outcome for them.
The client isn't paying for my time. They are paying for my 15+ years in creative and production. My taste. My ability to take a complex issue and make it simple with video. A myriad of other things I have mastered over the years.
Anyway, the pitch deck is dead.
And I am happy about it.
