The Nissan Skyline GT-R That Wore a Police Badge
Believe it or not, Japan actually used R34 Skyline GT-Rs as police cars!
Starting in 2000, Saitama Prefectural Police added six R34 GT-Rs to its fleet, including five marked patrol cars and one unmarked car. These weren’t just for display either. They were used for highway traffic enforcement.
Fast forward to 2027, and Hot Wheels is bringing this piece of Japanese automotive history to the HW J-Imports series.
There’s a cool detail worth pointing out. The hood-mounted deflector on the real car helped keep bugs and road debris off the windshield. Hot Wheels even included it on the casting!
One difference? The Hot Wheels version has Tokyo Metropolitan Police markings, while the real car pictured served in Saitama.
