Our law enforcement officers deserve the best tools to do their jobs. Today, I joined local leaders for the ribbon cutting of the new Ocoee Regional Law Enforcement Training Center. This much-needed facility will strengthen training, improve coordination between departments and better equip officers to protect our communities. Government doesn’t earn a dime. You do. Every spending proposal starts with money somebody worked for. Before politicians ask families to hand over more, they need to explain what happened to the money they already collected. Show the results. Cut the waste. Taxpayers are more than a funding source for government projects. Your paycheck is not permission for another spending spree.

Gun owners know their firearms, their homes and their families. Safe storage means finding a setup that fits your household and keeps your firearms secure—whether that’s a safe, a lockbox or another secure option. Parents should not have to fight the government for a say in their children’s education. The DSA’s ballot endorsements include opposition to Washington state’s Initiative 1, which would restore parental rights to review educational materials, receive specific notifications and opt their children out of sexual-health education. A service member died after a rappelling fall before Saturday’s UT San Antonio football game. My prayers are with his family, his fellow airmen and everyone grieving this terrible loss. As a Green Beret, I know the risks our special warfare community faces everyday. We train hard, take risks and sweat in peace so we bleed less in war. The incident is under investigation. Turning this airman’s death into a political weapon is disgraceful. Stop the political games. Honor the man and his service. Stand with his family.

Buying a firearm legally doesn’t make you a suspect. Investigate threats. Go after gun traffickers. Hold violent criminals accountable. But tracking Americans simply because they lawfully purchase firearms crosses a line. Gun ownership alone is no justification for government surveillance. Stop treating the exercise of a constitutional right as evidence of a crime.

Florida investigators have dismantled what authorities describe as a multicounty network trafficking fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine. Operation Ice Breaker targeted suspects across Palm Beach, Broward, St. Lucie and other counties. Credit to the investigators working to take this network down. Go after the dealers, the distributors and the money keeping these networks alive. People profiting from poison in our communities need to face the full consequences of their crimes.
