When Baltimore City Schools police officer Lawrence Smith was indicted last September, North Avenue placed him on administrative leave. But the district would not tell Fox45 News if he was on paid leave. Now, through a public records request, Project Baltimore has learned Smith was being paid until, “September 6, 2024.” Meaning, taxpayers continued to pay him his fully salary for nearly a year after he was arrested.
