This is a warning for every one of us who insists that Britain or France or Italy etc are just fine.👇 I have been shouting for decades - we must care about what we teach our children in our schools! No one was interested. I only hope people are willing to listen now.

This hits at a phenomenon we see a lot. One side doesn’t understand the other, noticed things unsaid and is left to assume they don’t believe it. When reality is that the other side sees it as obvious and it would feel weird to make a big point of saying it. I got to know Zaid at a dinner once, I know he’s coming at this in good faith.
I have not “assimilated” into hookup culture but it’s odd to me so many “conservatives” think the men at the Cornell case behaved appropriately or morally even if you don’t think they did anything illegal. I guess under Trump they no longer believe in chastity or honor.

Exactly this. I don’t want boys and men flocking to the depraved manosphere. That won’t bring about their flourishing but only make them and society worse. That’s not what I want for my daughter—a generation of alienated men is dangerous to her and to all of us. But I also know that this cultural moment we’re in is practically pushing men off to the manosphere, and then we shame them for it. We need to do some serious reflection and stop marginalizing them and minimizing their pain and loss of identity, belonging, and purpose. I HATE those stupid “The future is female” shirts. What are males supposed to do with that kind of messaging? Step aside and become and do what? We can’t just call them out when they misbehave and then abandon them, because that just radicalizes people. We also have to call them IN—call them in to purpose and greatness, remind them of their value and that they’re loved. Call them into community with godly role models who genuinely want to know them and can speak truth and correct in love. Give them a better story and inspire them. See their potential. Nothing transforms a person like love and grace, and belonging and purpose and work and responsibility—calling them in to a beautiful story within which they can confidently take their place and live courageously and convictionally. They will more likely treat girls and women well when they’re treated well and not devalued and dismissed. Somebody has to go first. 🙏 Among the people on here I see doing a redemptive work are @drantbradley, @Merobinaa, @NewEmergingKing, @iamrodneysmith and @CoreyBBrooks. All Black Christian men—sacrificially devoting their lives in the trenches to building up boys (and girls too) and pushing back against the effects of the Fall. That is a beautiful, sacred work that will earn many heavenly crowns. Grateful for them. It’s so much easier to tear down than to build up. But to what end?
This is one of reasons many point to for the increase interest in manosphere content. For many men, it’s the only community where their potential encouraged and celebrated. You get more of what’s affirmed and validated. Interesting times…

Government-subsidized loans directly led to mass tuition inflation by creating rotten institutional incentives. But discriminating against those choosing lower-paying careers is not the way to address the problem. Many careers that aren’t financially rewarding benefit society.
Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/NmmAzhf

I think this is true of more people than we realize. Our backstories and the people who rejected us play a formative role in our lives and how we make sense of the world. We all long for our stories to be redeemed in some way, and we all long for identity, belonging, and purpose—sometimes so desperately that we self-sabotage by differentiating ourselves from the very people we need most in order to heal. We hate and villainize others to normalize and numb the pain. Or we seek the approval of those whose acceptance we crave. Too often we project our issues onto others. Us vs them feels good if it means we can be a part of an “Us.” But it’s a destructive illusion. The world is full of wounded people. When I encounter cruelty and sweeping derogatory generalizations about people on here my first thoughts are “Who hurt you?” and “What are you running from?” Thankfully, there’s a loving divine Healer whose open arms we can run to and be put on a path to true wholeness.
Ta-Nehisi Coates had an abusive dad who fathered kids with four different women. A lot of these “civil rights” writers are just dealing with hang-ups from their childhoods.

Need your help. I talk to 8-12th grades about polarization and give them tools to avoid it. I have activities and object lessons etc. I want one to help show how some of our animosity toward the other side is simply because we think they hate us. A few ideas here. Thoughts?

Took my son until his senior year to get the courage to ask a girl to a dance. It was both of their first dates yesterday. They had a blast. Couldn’t be more proud.

Franklin was 81 when he offered these words at the close of the Constitutional Convention. He openly acknowledged that there were parts of the proposed Constitution he did not approve of, but explained that experience had taught him that “better information or fuller consideration” had sometimes caused him to change opinions he once believed were right.

Other ways of caring for the poor are short term, making the problem worse down the road. Economic freedom is the long term solution.

Thanks Shining Light school for having me over this week! They read my novel The Bathwater Brigade and integrated it into their classwork. It was fun to meet new people who know my book's characters so well. (The rubber duck has special meaning in my book for those wondering!)

Being British has literally never had anything to do with race. An historical example, to illustrate: Ignatius Sancho (1729 – 1780). Born on a slave ship, he was sold into slavery in the Spanish Empire. He was taken to Britain age 2. As an adult, he voted in general elections - when most Brits did not have the right to vote - given that Sancho was a property owner. He is rightly remembered as one of the greatest British abolitionists. Note the word 'British' there.

Everyone is looking for my so-called pivot. It's not in the policy. It's not in the labels. It's not in the strategy. But I found it. There is something different. I don't hate the other side anymore. And that might be the biggest difference of all. And the biggest sin for some.

No. Because as the business owner @elonmusk has free speech rights and can thus determine what speech he promotes or does not. I said the EXACT same thing about Facebook when conservatives complained they weren’t popular there and claimed they were “shadow banned.” The ONLY true constitutional violation is when the government TELLS private companies how to moderate their content. Which is exactly what BIDEN did.
If you believed that it violated the First Amendment for Biden officials to talk to twitter about its moderation policies, for instance, encouraging removal of anti-vaxx posts, do you believe it violates the First Amendment for a Trump surrogate to own twitter?

If you feel like you won today, it’s more important than ever to be kind to those who feel they lost. Show them that their fears of you were misplaced.

A blue wave is coming eventually. It's said that China thinks in terms of centuries. Our vision seems to stop at the next election. If Republicans want this to be a LASTING victory, here's what we need to do. 🧵1/13
