NC Gov. Josh Stein suggested Republican legislators only voted to pause the state’s gas tax because they’re concerned about the midterm elections.
Then Stein traveled to western North Carolina and signed the bill at the farm of a Democratic congressional candidate.
Today, I returned to Raleigh to provide immediate relief at the pump for families, farmers, and small businesses across Western North Carolina. Everyone is feeling the pain of high fuel prices, and I'm glad our Republican majority took action to bring prices down.
Western North Carolinians deserve leaders who don’t just talk about the problem, but work to deliver relief. This is the kind of leadership our region needs from Washington, and it's exactly what I'll provide in Congress.

It has been two years since Hurricane Helene changed WNC forever.
The devastation was unbelievable, but so was the resilience of our community.
Neighbors helped neighbors, volunteers stepped up, and people across WNC came together to rebuild.
From being on the ground helping families in need, to fighting in Raleigh for Helene relief, to securing the resources our communities need to recover — I’m proud to have played a role in that effort.
Our work is not done, and I will continue the fight in Washington.
