Standard media craze but always interesting to see predator-prey interactions within top predators. If you’ve seen or heard about orcas-sharks interactions, check out 2nd photo and contact us on [email protected]

Back from a recent trip from Kangaroo Island @lucindahats has been collecting water samples from across the island. The water samples will be assessed for #platypus eDNA to assist in detecting remnant platypus populations. 🧬

Had a great chat about #Taningia with @alexlariley from @NautilusMag for this. Why do these huge #deepsea #squid have the largest know photophores (light-producing organs) in the animal kingdom? Have a read here: nautil.us/the-mystery-of-the…

This week the lab has started with a trip to the Windara #shellfish reef to collect water and oyster samples 🦪 Windara was built in 2018 and is the first and largest shellfish reef in Australia. Research by @BecSuttonSmith will assist in understanding #restoration outcomes – at Ardrossan, South Australia

We are investigating #orca prey specialisation on specific organs, and we need your help! We have examples of #whale tongues in low and high latitude regions, #shark livers in S. Africa, and #sunfish intestines in Mexico. Any other specific organs or regions with picky orcas?
