Very, very good story from Theo on Marvin Harrison Jr.’s disappointing tenure with the Cardinals.
When Marvin Harrison Jr. arrived in Arizona, he had one request: A Seeker machine, which runs $50k. The organization declined.
It proved to be a small but revealing moment. A full look at why this relationship failed and where it leaves the Cardinals:

The Diamondbacks' season ended in familiar fashion.

NL wild card contenders after the All-Star break:
1. Padres, 43-23
2. D-backs, 37-29
3. Cubs, 35-31
4. Phillies, 34-30
The Padres played at a 106-win pace. The Diamondbacks played at a 91-win pace, but it wasn't enough.
Since the third wild card spot was instituted in 2022, three NL teams have won 86+ games and still missed the playoffs:
1. Arizona Diamondbacks (2024), 89-73
2a. Arizona Diamondbacks (2026), 86-76
2b. Milwaukee Brewers (2022), 86-76
D-backs lose, 9-4, in Game 162. They finish the season 86-76 — two games behind the Phillies in the NL wild card race.
@shoewizard59 and I will be live after postgame interviews from Petco Park: youtube.com/live/FzU9VKTQUUQ
The Phillies beat the Rays, 7-3, clinching the third NL wild card spot.
The Diamondbacks have been eliminated. Since the D-backs' World Series run in 2023, they have now missed the playoffs in three consecutive seasons.
The Diamondbacks scratched their best hitter in Game 162. Brutal.
The @Dbacks have scratched Gabriel Moreno from the lineup. Pavin Smith will DH instead.
