Protecting our water is about more than now, or the next 10 years. It’s about protecting it for generations to come. Some of our youngest Torontonians have shared their drawings with me. My commitment to them: I’ll keep our water in public hands.

This Monday October 26, I’m supporting @oliviachow to be re-elected as our Mayor. Olivia has made positive changes here in our city: 🏠 Reducing homelessness 🏬 Bringing in stronger renter supports and protections against renovictions 📚 Opening libraries 7-days-a-week 🚇 Freezing fares on the TTC, and introducing fare-capping She is principled, kind, and very hard-working. We’ve seen an improvement in services and her focus on affordability, and I know Olivia will remain focused on those issues in her second term. ✅ Toronto is making progress, with her as our Mayor. Olivia Chow is Number 9️⃣ on your ballot, and in a close election tomorrow your vote matters – for our city.

NEW: As the Ford government faces increasing scrutiny over how a handful of private career colleges allegedly abused OSAP, the OPP says it’s reviewing the allegations but has yet to decide on a formal criminal probe. globalnews.ca/news/12101191/… #onpoli

From @TheBikingLawyer on IG. Looks like the sneaky Ford government will try to remove the bike lane during the day today. Get down there ASAP if you can! #topoli #onpoli #bikeTO

Tonight I am at Bloor and Islington at a protest to protect our bike lanes from being ripped out. Doug Ford is spending millions making our streets more dangerous, and we will not stand for it.

NEW: In his first year running Ontario's largest school board, the Ford government's TDSB supervisor logged more than twice as many meetings with the board's $20B real estate arm than he did with parent groups, calendar entries reveal. The FOI records offer a rare glimpse into the supervisor’s day-to-day work, raising concerns that parents have taken a back seat under provincial supervision. Story: thetrillium.ca/news/educatio…

15.2% youth unemployment, a jump from 14.4%. That’s what we learned from today’s Statistics Canada job numbers. At the same time, Ontario is facing a growing climate crisis. We can tackle both. Today, I joined @OFLabour President Laura Walton and young organizers from Organizing for a Youth Climate Corps to call for 10,000 paid Youth Climate Jobs every year. The goal is to give young people good work while helping Ontario cut emissions, prepare for extreme weather and respond to climate emergencies. It's good for the climate. Good for the economy. Good for jobs. I will be introducing this motion in the legislature when we return in October. You can support it by signing this petition: jessicabellmpp.ca/youth_clim…

What an utter waste of money to remove a bike lane that serves the vital purpose of keeping cyclists safe. People cycle because it is fast, reliable and very cheap. Given the high price of gas, the Premier should be encouraging cycling, not making it dangerous. I know this bike lane will return.

#BREAKING - “This is outrageous” says Toronto Mayor Chow as she reacts to news that the Ford government will begin bike lane removal this coming Tuesday. The first lanes to go, I’m told, will be those on Bloor St., West.

When you only spend $140 million of your $5 billion tariff relief fund, you're not serious about making your plan work. Instead, we're seeing hard-working steelworkers get laid off, with more than 350 let go in Hamilton last week alone. Doug Ford talks a big game when it comes to supporting Ontarians, but we've seen that he doesn't put his money where his mouth is. The Premier took a 21-week summer vacation instead of getting back to the legislature, and working with us to pass a plan that actually protects our workers and businesses. When will Doug Ford finally put Ontarians first?

How much are Ontario taxpayers paying for the Ford government's education ads? Earlier this week, Treasury Board President Kinga Surma said to ask Education Minister Paul Calandra. Today, Calandra said to ask Surma. So far, no one has provided an answer on how much the ads are costing:

Why does this Conservative government get to live like rockstars on the taxpayer dime — with luxury private jets, five-star hotel stays and lobster dinners — while hard-working people aren’t even paid a living wage? Today, Ontario’s minimum wage went up just 35 cents to $17.95 an hour. Meanwhile, rent is unaffordable. Grocery bills are through the roof. And too many people working full-time still need food banks to get by. A full-time job should be enough to live on. We are calling for a $20 minimum wage indexed to inflation, action to bring down housing and grocery costs, and fewer barriers for workers who want to join a union. torontotoday.ca/local/busine…
