One of the dumbest things we are asked to believe about Iran is that it keeps taking time away from defending itself against US-Israeli aggressions to orchestrate random acts of arson and vandalism in mid-power western states for no discernible benefit to its strategic interests.
Today CBC published an article with the headline: “Why a spate of gun-for-hire shootings in Toronto were likely paid for by Iran.”
I was intrigued, as there has been almost 0 evidence offered for this claim thus far.
Unfortunately this article doesn’t offer any either, adding nothing new. CBC says they spent weeks on the investigation, so these are pretty pitiful results, at least in terms of finding evidence of who paid for the shootings.
I’m not sure why they feel comfortable with such a declarative headline given the lack of evidence (other than journalistic standards going out the window when the subject is an Official Enemy country).
Also, CBC and other journalists continue platforming police claims that they need backdoor access to messaging apps to solve these shootings, with no push back or critique about how these powers can be abused, including against journalists.

There's at least one more option: roll back the networkification of all software over the last 20 years. Some software must be networked, but a lot is networked only because that enables more lucrative subscription business models. We could undo that. teapawt.org/sachaservan/status/211…
There are two approaches to cybersecurity now that we’re in the vulnpolcalypse:
1. “patch the planet” by burning mountains of tokens, red teaming, and patching until you think there are no more exploitable bugs in the software
2. Shrink software components into their most minimal essence, tailor them to a particular system, and then formally verify it
Both approches are now enabled by LLMs. But only the second one can be done on a budget and without having access to frontier cyber models like mythos.
This is why I’m excited to see more legacy software get boiled down, hardened, and verified

Today’s PHP security risks got me thinking about how I could have been more vulnerable with you. Perhaps we can patch things up and be there 4 one another.

Any attempt by Albanese to pin this horrendous act on the right of centre must be rebuked.
This is his monster.

A timely reminder that leaked Israeli studies found that pushing pro-Israel propaganda to Westerners didnt work & instead they advised spending millions blasting the West with racist Islamophobic content demonizing Muslims instead.
I think about that a lot while browsing Twitter

Abdul isn’t a name it’s a prefix. He wasn’t named a prefix. He said he started going by the prefix alone because of Paula Abdul. Question is, will you issue a correction?
I don't mean to make demands, but the word and the deed go hand in hand. How about some truthful information, please.

If I see any more evidence-based analysis of mental health outcomes in pieces about if R U OK? 'works' or not I'm going to fucking scream.
The founder was a traumatised man seeking the counsel of a death cult. You can Google everything you need to know this in five minutes flat.

It is now 7 years since I learned of R U OK? Day's links to the abusive Landmark Forum cult—banned in France for telling attendees to kill themselves and get cancer—and Australian media has never to my knowledge reported this despite it being on their fucking Wikipedia page.
Replying to @maximumwelfare
Figured out *why* RUOK Day is so aggressively odious: the founder was a patron of Landmark Worldwide, which has been described as a 'quasi-religion' of self and loves to sue anyone who calls it a cult!
