“The trade told me everything I needed to know. Giving away two first round picks, this team believes in what they have here and they want it right now.” Jeffery Simmons says he hopes his game, passion and leadership help the Bears compete for a championship.

"F- them picks is a big thing. That's really not what we're about. I know it took a lot to get this done. We absolutely believe draft and young talent is how you sustain success." #Bears GM Ryan Poles on trading two first round picks for Jeffery Simmons. @fox32news

"Asking around the league, the consensus is that Chicago better win right away. They almost have to to justify what they gave up." This is extreme. A QB/HC combo like this can keep you in the mix for a long time, which is why they're so crucial. (cont)
A few things to note on the Bears and Titans trade for star DT Jeffery Simmons: - Jeffery Simmons is one of the best players in football and Chicago was planning on being aggressive on adding a defensive piece. This was a bigger swing than they initially intended to do, but pivoted after looking at their other deadline options on defense. - Dennis Allen has had to created a lot of pressure this year by blitzing and bringing different players. Simmons creates pressure by himself as no player on the Bears has more sacks this season than Simmons. - There was a preexisting relationship with Ryan Poles and Mike Borgonzi for years and years. That played a role in getting a deal done with a player that many thought was off limits. - Asking around the league, the consensus is that Chicago better win right away. They almost have to to justify what they gave up. Everyone agreed that they are now one of the true contenders in the NFC. - The Titans got a deal they just couldn't pass up once it got to a certain point.

"Some NFL people believe the Bears better win right away to justify what they gave up" Well, yeah. That's the point of the trade. But it also ignores the Bears have Ben Johnson & Caleb Williams. The contention window is open for as long as Caleb is in his prime.

The @ChicagoBears have run 505 offensive plays to just 351 for their opponents. That difference (+154) is the largest for any team through seven games in the Super Bowl era (since 1966). The Bears have run the most plays per game in the league (72.1) and allowed the fewest (50.1). @PaulHembo

Surreal to witness Caleb Williams' ascension into superstar territory. He's a 1 of 1 talent with the mentality to match the ceiling. Caleb is still in his adolescent development stage, too, which is terrifying (or exciting if you're a Bears fan). Can't wait to see his final form & how Ben Johnson helps him get there. Feels like whatever the moment is, Caleb is gonna meet or exceed it. Whether you're a Bears fan or just a football fan, enjoy the ride. – at Hillside, IL
