I’m obviously on leave this week as we get Myles Blue acclimated home and to his siblings. Three kids is a madhouse lol. But if you’ll indulge me I’d really like to talk about the “Blue” part of his name.

Oh yeah, dude. Houston football games are packed. Standing room only.

Excuses and assholes, dude. Everyone’s got em. Showings like that are exactly why the Big 12 and ACC don’t want Memphis. How are they supposed to promote programs when nobody shows up to prime time games?

I have subscribed to State 1878 to the tune of $8 and I can report that this Memphis basketball team is playing with some juice. Nemanja Popovic is a game-changer. Drawing doubles offensively and protecting the rim on the other end. Mississippi State can’t handle him so far.

Truly don’t understand the handwringing about the Memphis crowd last night. I was there. Of course Memphis would prefer as many people go as possible, but it seemed fine to me. It’s a two-loss G6 team on a Thursday coming off a super depressing L. It ain’t gonna be 40k deep.

Losses are costly at this level of CFB. The threshold for relevance is way higher. It can be difficult to stay engaged. Over generations & generations that can be changed. But it’s a process, and only recently did Memphis really become committed to working on that.

Why did Charles Huff keep two timeouts in his pocket? That was putrid.

Memphis doesn’t look right. It’s like they’re calling plays still traumatized by last week. Making the offense really one-dimensional so far.

The party deck experience in-game at Memphis football is truly elite. I can’t take a picture that encapsulates it all but this is really well done.

Cam Boozer is the first rookie in NBA history to finish with a plus-minus of +30 or better in his debut. He was +32 (Data tracking only goes back to 1996-97)

Some interesting comments from Penny here. Definitely a window into his thinking a couple weeks before this crucial season begins.

Lmfao man just own it, the gaslighting makes it so much worse
Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark on Kansas adding Trey Kauffman-Renn, despite new conference rules barring teams from adding pro athletes: "He was automatically put in the (NBA) Draft, he didn't declare for the Draft. That is the distinction."
